Some of these suggestions are posted many times by others and these might not be to most purist method. However, I think these should work for this kind of game.

Difference between arms and torso weapon hardpoints:

I don't think the little larger turn radius of arm placed weapons are enough to different arm and torso weapons. Arms have actuators, torso doesn't. Torso weapons should be fixed to straight forward and not be able to fire group fire in pinpoint of your crosshair. Arms have actuators for that.

What this changes? You can't core enemys with torso placed weapons as easily. Alpha will spread around enemy. Bigger your torso is harder it is to shoot accurately. Chain fire can be used to be more accurate by turning your torso for each weapon in turn. But because of being fixed, it should be easier to wield heavier weapons in torso and thus allowing larger weapon hardpoints.

Arms on the other hand can wield lighter weapons and aim them to pinpoint accuracy far away and close up. To be able to put heavier weapons to arms, arm should need heavier actuator for that. We need light, medium and heavy actuators for player to choose from. Heavier is heavier and something that only assault mechs are able to use in with their higher tonnage limit. Maybe even two actuators per arm is needed for vertical and horizontal turning. Or maybe rip of all the actuators to save tonnage, but then your arms are fixed like torso is.

Weapon hardpoint sizes:

Three weapon hardpoint sizes are needed for all the weapon types. At the moment small laser is worthless. You should be able to fit three or four of those to replace large laser. Lightest mechs should not be able to wield as large weapons as assaults. On the other hand, assaults should not be limited to large weapons to be able to use their full tonnage.

These changes offer more possibilites between play styles and differentiates light mechs from assaults. There really isn't down sides for this, exept little harder balancing of weapons and mechs or little more complains from TT purists.
