So say I shoot my lasers 100 times, I hit 100 targets which would give me 100 percent hit rate.
Now say I shoot my lasers 100 times but i rake my lasers over 200 targets. would I end up with a score of 200 percent?

thanks

Nope. They only count as one hit, no matter how many targets they actually damage.

You may or may not experience a bug using a Flamer in a manner to produce a higher than 100% hit rate.

hit percent for lasers shoudl be calculated by total damage done/ (times fired x weapon damage)

our stats count a laser as a full hit even if you only sweep over a target and not do 100% damage of the laser. (sweeping over multipl etargets count as 1 hit max). This is the reason why our medium/small lasers have seemingly ridiculous accuracy. because even if it touches anything and does 0.1 damage it counts as a hit.

this is my large laser stat:
Large Laser
Fired: 68
Hit (any hit at all regardless of damage done): 49
Accuracy(wrong): 72.06%
Damage: 291

But you can use these stats to get actual percent hit or (damage done/possible damage):

291 (damage done) / (68(total times fired)x 9(large laser damage)) = 47.5% true accuracy

Disclaimer: this formula does not account for splash damage and split damage (hits that is inbetween two components) and other weird ways PGI calculates damage. so it doesn't match up 100% with PGI's accuracy stat for other weapons. But for lasers it is the best estimate.

This, or give us a "Time on Target" stat, since laser accuracy is 2 parts, the initial shot and the duration that you can hold the beam on target.
