I found that if you hold alt then hit print screen it will actually take a screen shot while playing ingame. Print screen takes the entire visible area of the screen and coppies it to clipboard, ALT+PrintScr only coppies the active window (say MWO or a browser etc...) to the clipboard and for some reason this works.
Just randomly discovered this the other day when I wanted to take some screen shots.

Maybe my install is unique, but as of a few patches ago, print screen saves a screenshot to my MWO install directory. They're a little big, as they're bitmaps, but better than pasting in to paint everytime i want to save something.

PrintScreen only works when you're playing windowed or full-screen windowed. It does not work for actual full-screen mode.

Hold alt then hit print screen and it works in full screen mode. Anyway, didn't think of launching MWO through steam... ought to make a shortcut in there.
