I would like to see a tournament that doesn't reward Cheeze. If our fellow Gamers are so "Leet" they should be able to do just as well in Stock Designs, and it would be nice to see some variety in the matches. Might even change a few minds about the usefulness of some designs.

Might be hard though, as the Tourney Droppers would need to probably be segregated as Stocks vs Smurfy MinMaxes are not a good combo. (plus I see people exploiting it by trying to sync with Clan Mates in Cheeze Builds who strip the opponents and leave them for their "Stock" Clansman to finish off)

PLUS.... would love to see how well our crowd of MinMax Warriors do. IF they even deign to play.

A day without Smurfy Builds, or a Weekend, would be a truly refreshing experience.

and yes, I am sure it has been asked before, but it's an idea that needs traction, IMO.

A good concept!

However, a tournament with stock builds might as well be called "suffering weekend." It seems like we'd be actively punishing those who wanted to compete in it.

Or seeing who is as good as they think. I don't consider it suffering if everyone is in the same boat. But then, I had fun in Closed Beta pre DHS, so go figure.

All the tournament entrants are in the same boat. There will be plenty of people on any given server who aren't. I don't relish the thought of taking a stock Jenner versus a proper one, but all entrants will have to do variants of that in every game.

Now, if there were a tournament only queue, then things would be different.

If/when the clans come... the stock Madcat-D would be the build to rule them all.

Maybe.

I would not mind seeing an actual 8 man Tourney set up, to cut through all the BS Epeen, but the current state of the Meta leaves 8 mans largely boring. I neither Poptart, nor run 6 PPC Stalkers (neither require much skill, at least in the manner they are being used. Mobile Jump Snipers can be impressive)

yes but i agree we would need a stock/trial mech only game mode to do this.

Yeah that would be nice. Good suggestion.

Some trial designs are still min/max, if you mean 'certain' community Mechs. However, stock mechs and or a stock design made with a Mech (K3 with a K2, etc.) would be something I would play.

While I like the basic idea, there are only a handful of stock mechs that are even close to useful. Most are absolutely awful (I'm thinking of my beloved Cicada). If there were a way to put tournament players in a separate queue, then maybe it would work. Otherwise it would just muck up everyone else's games.

I voted maybe because I would rather have a tournament with 2-man, 3-man, and 4-man teams brackets. Enough of these solo tournaments.
