The flea with its limited payload an theoretical incremental speed above other lights will probably be a "once tried but quickly forgotten mech"

I'm not so sure about that.

The Flea will have four energy hardpoints in its least armed variant (FLE-4). Another will have five energy hardpoints (FLE-17), and the third will have five energy + two ballistic (FLE-15).

All of them will easily be able to fit an XL170 (for 137.7/151.5kph), ES, 4 tons of armour, 10 DHS, and 4 ML (and that's with 3 tons to spare).

Depending on the size of the model, the number of module slots, and whether or not (likely not) it'll have access to ECM, I think they'll do just fine in the fast scout/harasser role. It'll be lightly armoured, but it'll be zippy and it'll pack a reasonably large punch.

I know I'm looking forward to the Flea! :P

i ran into a highlander with almost exact same loadout that i have in my DDC, lets just say i wasnt the one who lost.

what he thought he was going to accomplish by JJ'ing in the middle of a brawl is beyond me i just waited till he landed and was completely still and blasted him.

There will be no tonnage matching in the near future because reasons. All we get is class matching so that "pros" can rage at the people dropping in awesomes (and atlases) instead of stalkers or poplanders...

LOL, read man. Devs are putting tonnage matching to 100% today.

"When we tighten up the Weight Matching, we're going to drop our weight tolerance to 0 and see what happens. Teams will be almost equally built in terms of weight class, though they will draw from a wider skill range of players to compensate. We'll be keeping an eye on the system while doing this and will continue to tune it until we're happy with the match quality and wait times."

If my english wasnt so bad id do a translation from english to english for you but unfortunately it sucks.

The next time we get another light we will have either ScoutWarrior-Online once more or FleaWarrior-Online.
With the next medium it will be BlackjackWarrior-Online.
The next heavy will bring us OrionWarrior-Online.

See it here and now, I claimed those names first!

I can't hear it anymore!

I raise you MASCWarrior Online

Fleas: 4E, 5E, 5E+2B
Commandos: 3E+1M, 2E+2M, 1E+3M, 4E
Spiders: 3E, 2E, 1E+4B
Jenners: 4E+2M, 6E, 4E+1M
Ravens: 4E+1M, 3E+2M, 2E+2B+1M

From an armament perspective the Flea looks pretty solid to me. It won't have to worry about ammo like the missile Commandos, the FLE-15 won't be gimped by its ballistic slots like the SDR-5K, and it'll have more energy weaponry than any other light save the JR7-F.

There's other factors too, of course - it'll be fragile, not able to mount more than a max of 4.31 tons of armour. Depending on the size of the thing, that may or may not be an issue. It'll be as fast as any light, or faster if they manage to get MASC working. It'll be immensely irritating to the enemy (and probably immensely satisfying to punch an AC/40 through. Straight through).

I totally understand it'll not be for everyone, but then again what light is? We're only 11% of the 'mechs, after all. Personally, as I said, I'm really looking forward to taking it for a spin.

Give it a week. There will be less of them on the battlefield. I was disappointed in layout of them. They are basicly an Atlas weighing 10 tons less and little jumpjets. Even between the 4 of them. Hardpoints are the same minus moved 1 or 2 of them. To me it is like they thought this up over the weekend. Player made Highlander was the best loadout. Wich had dual guass.

While I enjoy beating the snot out of the enemy and walking away with 4-6 kills every match it's a nice change to actually have to work for it.

Yeah, that's it, stroke it baby, stroke it.

if it ever does, but if it is based off current mech speed then all the lights will STILL end up being the same F'ing speed!

The proper term would be welcome back.

Since they put class match back in you are kind of stupid to drive anything but an assault or heavy.

Well what did they think would happen when they removed repair and rearm.

Fleas will be fun... until you run into a HSR LRM boat with TAG, about 3s later you will get cause of death "destroyed engine".

I'll still be getting a few of them just for the lulz.

Yep, it does increase the frequency of the big new thing.

But winning also drives appearances. With ballistics host state rewind we are all hitting everything a lot more. Especially the fast-movers. Speed is driving fewer shots off target and armor becomes more important...

Weapon balance is an interaction of Damage/Heat/Range/Hitbox Sizes/Accuracy.
When they fixed host state rewind they bumped up accuracy.
My post-patch ballistics accuracy went up an average of 20% (min 8%, max 48%).
I suspect that this is the new world and unlikely to be changed significantly. Give them two more patches and then ask yourself if you are still having fun.

A lot of the people in this thread clearly missed the part in the OP where he's not actually b*tching, it's more of a lighthearted "ah well, can't beat'em, join'em" post. :/

Hey someone got it!! Yes, it's more of a public service joke about how the flavor of the month club is right now, nothing more.
