Okay, up until the last patch, I used to do pretty well for myself. However, ever since the last patch was implemented, most of my games seem like I'm up against an 8-man team, and my side gets rolled hard.

Has anyone else noticed this, or is it just me?

They kind of sort of tweaked it and will continue to tweak it.

Which is one reason why they have another weekend tourney.

More people to test it out, get rewards in the process, have fun, hope they figure it out. '(^.^)'

Haven't seen this. Could just been a bad run... Tomorrow (Friday) they're going to be putting in 0 tolerance weight balancing for matches.

We'll see how this affects win/losses and also the time it takes to find a match. Seems like it is going to be pretty limiting to match exactly to weight, and then also keeping the Elo ratings equal - making for some lengthy queues, or even some impossible-to-balance matches.

Questions:
Is it going by just Weight Class (heavy matched with any other heavy mech) or 65 tons matched with 65 tons, 90 with 90, 30 with 30, etc.
I assume it is going to go by tons, and increased the tolerance would be to say you are allowed that many more tons as variance.
If it went by class, there would only be 3 levels of tolerances.... 0 meaning light for light, 1 meaning light for a light OR a medium. 2 would mean if it's an assault it'll be looking for either a heavy or a medium. 3 would mean if it's an assault it'll match with either a light, medium, or heavy?
That's my guesses though, we'll see how it works tomorrow though, so i don't really care lol.

I noticed such a trend too. It might just be bad luck, but it's frustrating to see half of your team getting rolled in a matter of seconds and everything going downhill from that point.
Add the increased number of disconnects and seemingly afk players, bugs and unballanced weight matching and you can have really ***** up matches.

First...many matches were one side rolling the other. The latter ones were better, setting more of the usual suspects on either side. Then randomly bunch of trial mechs milling around aimlessly asking basic gameplay questions. I'm mystified.

Yup just about 80% of matches are stomps for one side or the other. This sucks because it makes every round feel basically predetermined whether you personally do fifty damage or five hundred. It doesn't seem to effect the end result either way.

I doubt they will go for perfect class and weight matching. I wouldn't have a problem if there was a slight weight difference between the teams, let's say 20t.
But in no case you should end up with 4 light and 4 assault mechs vs a mix of medium and heavy mechs. Each team should have at least 1 mech of each weight class and not more than 1 mech difference per class.
For example if one team has 2 assaults the other team could have min/max 1-3 assault mechs but not 0 or 4+.

At least that's how I'd like it to work.

they already clarified it's only going back to class for class yet as per pre elo matching, They're still not sure what it's going to mean in terms of queue times.

Given how many highlanders are out there it's definitely going to be assault month unless you drop as a mixed 4 man

Thx for that info. Guess I missed that one.

Dropping as a mixed 4 man is probably the smart thing to do as I bet there will be a bunch of groups in dual assaults/heavies etc while a mixed bunch will more likely be going against pure pugs.

I've had some really good, close games though overall my competition seems easier than my norm. Granted I haven't played that many drops since the change so, this weekend will be more telling.

I've only noticed one issue with the matchmaker.
Instead of filling both teams at the same time, it tends to fill one, and then start filling the second.

I'm guessing it has to do that to find a elo amount to fill.

I have noticed the same thing. You either get rolled or you roll over them. It seems now that they are focusing on class balance, they have thrown elo out of the window. You get similar mechs on both sides but the skill level of players is completely random.

Is your group that bad, that you need to play against pure pugs to win?
