OK this may seem a little odd. I'm guessing people come to the forums to get help with vetting their builds and what not. I've been reading post on builds are trying out a few on my own. But the main problem comes down with me.
Here's my predicament. I don't live in the states, I live in Asia (Singapore to be exact) so I get crappy ping. Normally that wont really suck but I also have a 2.5 year old laptop which I am using to play MW:O. Its not the greatest machine, its not even build for gaming. I run the game on lowest settings and on the lowest resolution so as you can guess my FPS is crap as well. Crap FPS/PING makes it very hard to hit anything moving fast esp if I am also moving. I'm looking for suggestions for build ideas that make me useful.
I have a CTF-3D which I used to run with x4 Large Lasers (with Dbl HS) but that did not turn out very well because I have trouble keeping my crosshairs on a target for the full duration of the shot. Right now using x2 ER PPCs and 2 large lasers (Cant fit anything else) Started to become more useful but I kind of want to expand my options a little.
Apart from swapping to a different mech can anyone suggest any builds for me? Builds that make me useful, Instead of being a 70 ton piece of cannon fodder who has difficulty reaching 100 dmg in any game.
Suggestions For A "special" Cataphract.

If you really like the Cataphract try the 2X. You can mount SSRM or LRMs on it to help negate the latency issue.
Here's a possible close range variation.

The BAP helps to break ECM for your SSRM but you could remove it in favor of more heatsinks. I chose a LPL for it's damage and beam duration for pinpoint damage but you could choose to go with a large laser instead for some reach.
Next up is a long range variation.

Why ER large lasers and not a PPC? Because your latency sucks and it's better to deal some damage over the course of the beam duration than none with a PPC. Maybe not the most optimal build but it keeps you with the Cataphract.

Raso is deffinatley right about the 2X and lasers.
Have you tried LBX 10s yet they could be more effective fo you due to the spread and recent buff.
LBX CTF
I put an XL 300 in there because i had a few tons left over, thats a big expense but also worth it in a few other mechs. You should beable to make a build without it though.

I would not advise using an XL on a Cataphract but dual LBX is a definite plus. Used properly the JJs could help to mitigate damage by boosting your mobility and allowing for quick escapes or even deadly ambushes (you know, just like in any other phract except with vulnerable side torsos!
).
Another avenue could be the popular UAC route. You could make up for missed shots with sustained rate of fire. I don't know how well the double taps works with latency, though, so don't rule out AC5s. That should save you enough weight to drop in a STD engine (as well as changing your role from CQB to mid range direct fire)
Two possible builds.

Basically you want to counter your latency with accuracy by volume. Frankly, I am not a fan of mixing pinpoint damage weapons like ballistics or PPCs on the arms and torso but I know that's how the Murumets role so it can't be that hard.

pretty much everything has been said above: SSRM´s or LRM´s, LB10/X AC´s and generally everything that is auto-aim or spreading. or you stick to a pure sniper build, but in your case that means you are heavily dependant on standing still in the backfield, shooting at standing targets, which sounds more like luck to me

Thx for the suggestions!
Raso- Yea I guess ER large lasers would be better since I'll get dmg on the target. Even if my FPS is crap and I cant make it stick. It will take me awhile to get the Money for a 2X thou. Since I just bought the 3D.
Joedawg- Will try this build out. I dont really like using AC's cuz I cant aim them well with my FPS lag. But I think this might work since the LBX has such a huge spread.

I have a 3d not poptart build I made with an LBX(in the arm, soooooo much easier to aim with an arm mount vs torso) 2 erppc in the torso, and then a pair of ML, mostly for shooting at lights, but also to add some punch to the lbx on bigger targets. Fit the rest with heatsinks/engine to your likeing.
it will have good range with ppc, and then good (and fairly easy to aim) brawl weapons.

Yeah Xl phracts aren't for everyone, you have to be very aware of your positioning at all times. Although most people aim for the ballistic torso which you can beat if you torso twist to spread the damage around. Most times I die from CT hits in my XL tho.
