So is it suicide to put an XL engine in the 733C loaded out like a brawler (AC20, 2ML, 3SRM6 with Artimis)?

I have an XL 330 in my Heavy Metal and constantly get 600+ damage and top of the match on it. but I hear brawling is different. I currently have my 733C speced out like above but with the stock standard engine in it...I am just looking at ways to make it faster and become a real threat

The highlander really won't ever be fast. An XL Engine in one is kind of a death sentence right now, since your side torso is the first to go usually.

For brawlers, torso twist = life. For assault mechs, losing a side torso isn't the end of the world, either. You can still do some pretty significant damage if you lose one.

My initial impression on my 733C - and some guy's Heavy Metal review - told me that strangely Highlanders' CT is much easier to attract fire comparing to side torsos. But still.

I put a 300 Std in my 733P, and I've noticed a bunch of times that it's saved me and allowed me to keep putting out damage after losing one torso or the other. I get CT cored far more often, to be fair, but I lose my side torsos often enough for it to be noticeable. Best game of the weekend was one where I lost a side torso and survived to the end, putting out damage and getting 2 kills after losing the torso.

With folks focusing on taking out potential ppc's and gauss on the right side I wouldn't install an XL.

XL engines are surprisingly survivable, however the only reason or benefit to using them is to carry larger weapons and more ammunition. You impair yourself in the heatsink potential by carrying an XL.

Lordred, who for the first day carried the first place position for hours and as of this edit has the 6th place after over 23 hours of not playing, is using an XL 300 engine and twin UAC/5s in an Atlas-like build.
