Pragmatically it wasn't the best and made for a lovely target, still I do miss that foreboding glow heralding the approach of Kerensky's gift.

clearly ECM neutralizes the glow of an Atlas' eyes which is why no one can see them anymore <nods wisely>

The glowing eyes didn't matter in the past due to the use of thermal vision.

I don't know about that. I can remember plenty of times in forest colony when my teammates and myself would absolutely open up at those three red dots on the other side of the lake.

It was like the ringing of the boxing bell. You couldn't target anything, but all at once you'd see a rain of sparks from all the gauss rounds making contact.

I just want to add my little thought. The silhouette of an atlas is just as identifiable as its glowing eye effects. Although it was easier to aim for a headshot.

I'm surprised we're on Page 3 of this thread and no one has mentioned that there IS a way to turn the lights on and off in a cockpit. It's the [ . ] key (press the Period key on your keyboard) I always no matter what game turn the lights OFF in my cockpit on an Atlas. What would be nice however is that when you turn the lights ON for an Atlas, the lights would make the eyes glow in an Atlas. I could imagine turning them on a couple hundred meters away from a foe just to increase the freak out/chill factor and make my Atlas even scarier than before.

A pink mech at 1000m is still a Black silhouette. An atlas at 1000m was a black silhouette with a glowing "hit here" marker for the cockpit hitbox. Even a n00b like me could hit it with ease, I know because I have.

If we eventually (like in a years or so) get teh chance to have it reimplemented, maybe on a player controlled on-off basis w/or w/o MC colors, great. If not; i can live with matches lasting more than 30 seconds :D

hit here or not, wouldnt it be the player choice to make themselves a "obvious" target???

One of the best memories I have from CB is seeing the glow advance from the haze toward me, the rest of the atlas slowly materializing behind it and turning slowly to face me, and ******* away.
