Go on! Go the whole hog and ask pgi to just give you mech it's such a grind playing a GAME to get stuff for it. ;)

Hey Mr. Sarcastic, just because it's a game doesn't mean that we don't want different content. New mechs bring different abilities and different play styles, so to say that someone should just suck it up and play a mech they don't like because it's the one they bought is asking for people to get bored and leave. It's why I don't play WoT anymore - I've reached the point where it takes a hundred or more battles to advance, and since I only play a few matches a day, it'd take me months to get that new upgrade.

I'm not saying PGI should give them away, but when someone says "I got tired of grinding so I bought a mech with MC", I understand.

I play for fun. Grinding is not so much fun. Therefore I buy stuff I want with MC if I don't have enough CBills.

Simples ;)

I bought a couple catapults with MC to go with my founder's and haven't bought any non-hero mechs since. It means I've done some 'grinding' but personally I view 'grinding' as playing with the toys you have. They're still fun toys that I get a lot of enjoyment out of, so it doesn't bother me to wait. Now that I have a full and varied mech bay with 1 light chassis, 3 medium chassis, 2 heavy chassis, and 1 assault chassis all mastered with multiple variants I feel like I have plenty of variety to enjoy. I'm still waiting to be impressed by Highlanders but I have enough squirreled away to pick one up. Until then I'm having fun in chassis I've mastered, often with tried and true loadouts.

After I farmed for the RS and the D-DC I couldn't stomach grinding anymore and used MC on a 9M and a K2. That was way back when. ;)

When OB started, I used some of my Founders MC to buy an atlas, strip it and use the parts in my HBK-4G(f) and then buy a CPTL-C1 with the C-Bills.

Should have put the MC to premium time ... but to each their own.

well, you got the second part right, at least.

My plate was empty and I didn't want to stand up and get some more food from the kitchen, so I ate money instead. True story.

Suddenly realized that even with premium time, I will have to farm for 2 days (assuming 3-4 hours of uninterrupted play) to get 8.6 million C-Bills. The time is better spent elsewhere. No qualms with parting with 16 bucks. (it's half the price of HM)

Rest of the variants can be purchased with the C-Bills I get while XP farming for the 733C.

The point of this thread is that sometimes, buying non-hero mechs using MC is not as stupid as it sounds. I just realized that sometimes, C-Bills are better spent on stuff you can't buy with MC, such as Engines and Modules.

Yep, sometimes the c-bill earn rate is simply way too slow even with Premium Time. And you can blow 30 million c-bills really quickly buying and outfitting two Highlanders, and then all that time you spent grinding up 30 million feels like a waste because the cash goes so quickly.

Also, somewhere, PGI read your thread title and is like "Mission Accomplished". ;)

If you are working then most likely its more worth it to just buy the mech for MC. This factor grows exponentially with how much you make per hour. Work one hour overtime and snag two mechs for it, or go home early 5 days in a row to grind out one mech.

Poorly chosen illustration.

More accurate would be, I was hungry, had nothing I could make in a hurry, I had others things to do, so I went through Taco Bell's drive thru. (At which it is rather easy to spend the cost of a highlander, unless you only order tacos, lol)

Supporting the devs financially is not "stupid" at all. Buying stuff only with C-Bills doesn't help PGI at all.

I guess if time is money, that is the way to go. I bought one of the dragons on sale a month ago when I was trying to master my Flame and was strapped for Cbills.

However, with that said I bought the HM the day it was released and played with it all week and through the HERO 50/50 weekend to earn enough XP on it to master it right away (once I got the other two highlanders) and 21 million Cbills. Unfortunately my 733P cost me 16 million Cbills after buying a new engine and upgrades. While grinding upgrades for the 733P I was able to save enough for the 733C.

I won't watch reruns of Futurama, just in case this happens to be the episode they play.

Thank you OP for throwing money at PGI and supporting the game!

[queue Sally Struthers]

For just donating pennies a day, a dozen space poor can enjoy combat in the periphery!

Honestly, has anyone ever heard of Opportunity Cost?

I have around 2500 matches over the last 9 months, bought around 20 mechs with CBs and have 30 M to spare.
If you need more "mechs/matches played", you buy premium time or spend your cash on MCs.
Personally, I don't urgently need more than 20 mechs and think you can very get along with your earned CBs.
But I won't think badly about anyone who supports this game!
