Will MWO have any electronic counter measures. I see the infuses on scouts, and making them essential parts of the team. A large part of their power though is its electronics. The Raven, which I get the feeling is going to be a part of the game early on has the Guardian ECM suite. Will this tech be in the game in some fashion?

The first Ask the Devs includes a rundown of equipment, including ECM suite and active probe. Many other signals intelligence and items are included in the role warfare and information warfare dev blogs, to be tied to the Modules system.

QUESTION: Can you give us a list of weapons and equipment you expect at launch? Or at least what you KNOW will make it as of today? -Sprouticus

ANSWER: The weapon list is every Inner Sphere weapon available in the time frame, and they should all be in for launch. The following is a list of the weapons and equipment available at the time.
Weapons
Ballistic:
AC/2, AC/5, AC/10, AC/20
LB 10-X AC
Ultra AC/5
Gauss Rifle
Machine Gun

Energy:
Flamer
Small Laser, Medium Laser, Large Laser
ER Large Laser
Small Pulse Laser, Medium Pulse Laser, Large Pulse Laser
PPC
ER PPC

Missile Weapons:
LRM 5, LRM 10, LRM 15, LRM 20
SRM 2, SRM 4, SRM 6
Streak SRM 2

Equipment:
Standard and Endo-Steel Internal Structures
Standard and XL Fusion Engines
Jump Jets
Standard and Double Heat Sinks
Standard and Ferro-Fibrous Armour
CASE

Obviously not all of this will be stock, and some things will be harder to get than others. The equipment list is everything that I can guarantee for launch, though we’re likely to also have most, if not all, of the following ready to go:

Artemis IV
Anti-Missile System
Active Probe
ECM Suite
Narc Beacon
TAG

Hope you guys enjoyed this, and we'll run another one of these soon!

Guardian ECM is probably for launch according to this post. However since the Raven is going to be in at the launch it is almost certain that the Guardian will be in as well. Personally I think the Guardian ECM is going to be much more important in MWO than any previous incarnation of BattleTech or MechWarrior given the importance of Information Warfare.

Is there a like, or some reading as to how this might be implemented? I understand if its still hush hush. Just wondering.

Thanks, I posted this just as you two wrote your replies. Ill go look in first dev post. Much appreciated.

Yes, I am quite excited about the use of scout mechs, and matches that might be scount lance vs. scout lance. I think it would be very hair raising to if well fought. At least if what I envision the use of ECM, and ECCM to be like.

To give more uniqueness, equipment such as BAP and ECM should be "restricted" to certain mech chassis (like Mechcommander).

In this way, it would give another reason to pilot light mechs (if most are give that ability); perhaps have a unique like a Cyclops (also be able to carry it)...
and yeah yeah a variant of such and such mech (the Awesome I think) carries ECM

I agree, The use of ECM when properly used can turn the tide of battle every time, so when I heard them say they would be making scouts a lot more important; and not just a fast mech/ cannon fodder. I was quite happy. It will be fun to see. Thanks for the replies gents. Its been a long time since I have been this gung ho about the release of a game. I look forward to seeing you on the field.
