This excellent render made by @baabaa214 is ****-worthy.

Catapult doesn't have a hero mech yet - can we have this one?

I'm thinking 2x L/R torso energy and ballistics on the arms with decreased max torso armor but drastically increased arm armor as it quirk. We haven't had a hero mech with an actual new in-game model for a while.

Edit:
I realised what I suggested above outdates the K2. This is NOT what we want in this game! Let's have some build variety -- fun! -- scroll down the page for more fun suggestions!

Looks pretty cool. I don't know if any founders mech's are getting a hero chassis too or not.

Drastically increased anything on a hero mech will only be met with cries of "P2W!"

So, fun fact for those who don't know, after the next hero the 2 heros following will be mech revisits, such as the atlas, catapult, ect.

I think they will get one eventually because Hero mech's are different variants to the Founders.

I don't know about everyone else, but I'd certainly actually pay money for a hero mech if it included an alternate model (ie: this) and a paint job like THOSE FANGS.

Edit: Coming from someone who's spent about $75, but I've never been impelled to buy a hero mech.

Apparently cosmetic mods (like the Founders Cat's nose cone) will be available for normal mechs eventually.

The model truly looks fantastic, but I'm afraid it would be something like a JagerMech with better torso twist.

The next two hero Mechs will come from this list:

- Raven
- Spider
- Trebuchet
- Jagermech
- Stalker

The devs have stated, that they are not going to make a Hero version for chassis that already have a Founders version. At least not in the near future.

Looks great, but it will kind of be standing on the Jagermech's toes then, so I doubt it would happen.

Jagermech is a cheese mech - catapults have much higher durability and the defining almost-180 torso twist that makes them such a great 'Mech all-rounder against any other type of class. While they will have similar weapon configurations they certainly won't have the same playstyle - and, if they were given the quirk I suggested - it would be a mech that rewards good usage of torso/arm-twisting and punishes head-on ballisti-spam fights.

---
Everything past this line is my personal creativity and is nothing to do with the idea of a hero Catapult. Don't judge the idea based on what you read past here.
---

My proposed configurations would be either

1) 1 ballistics on each arm, 2 energy on LT, 2 energy on RT
{ Factory Build
- 2x AC5, 4x ML
}
or
2) 1 ballistics, 1 energy on each arm, 2 energy in CT
{ Factory Build
- 2xAC2, 2xPPC, XL Engine**
**XL engine is very suitable (and is almost a design quirk) for this mech because its torso is protected from most directions by its arms
}

Hold on a second.

If you get a post-/Jihad era mech, I demand my mech gets stealth armor and plasma rifles and maybe MRM with some LGauss!

Besides, you're just making a better Jagermech. Think for a second how well that would go... and don't forget to cry at PGI if somehow someone there gets hit in the head by a hammer and really implements this.

This reminds me of a hero mech I put together once, though a few months before the Jager was released. As you can see from the description, it basically is a Jager. :D

Quote

K2 (Catapult) Hero Mech:
4x Ballistic (R/L Arm, R/L Torso)
2x Energy (R/L Torso)
1x AMS (R Torso)
2 Module slots

The only changes from the standard K2 are the two energy hard points on the arms switched for two ballistic hard points. Seems like a minor change, but it would make a world of difference. You can put your Gauss/AC20's in the arms for better aim, and less breaking of immersion, fit an XL engine with your AC20 if you fancy it, and if you don't like that sort of thing you can go quad AC5 or something more balanced that imo work better than a one trick build anyway. I think it would be a lot of fun, and would probably sell pretty well given the popularity of the chassis.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->

K2 Hero Mech: Detonator

2x AC10 (R/L Arm) + 4 Tons Ammo
2x Machine Gun (R/L Torso) +2 Tons Ammo
2x Flamer (R/L Torso)
AMS (R Torso) +1 ton Ammo

XL300 Engine
368 STD Armor

Endo
DHS

The Detonator was the legendary Battlemech piloted by the legendary two time Solaris champion Hamish 'the Exploder' MacBain throughout his legendary career until his untimely, if legendary, death in a fireball in 3028. Immediately recognizable with it's vivid yellow and black paintjob and flame embossed gun mounts, the Detonator is still feared in arenas across the Inner Sphere and has built a reputation as a mech you do not take lightly.

The calm and pleasant personality that made him such a hit with the fans was forever at odds with the ferocity of his fighting style, maximum throttle, in your face combat. The dual AC10's would pop holes in his enemies armor to be exploited by near constant fire from the machine guns and flamers, blinding his foes in a hail of superheated bullets that cracked cockpits and set engines ablaze.

His record breaking string of victories and back to back championships ensured his place on the Solaris wall of fame, but despite the loss to the sport it was widely understood his tragic death by exploding was at least ironic, and he would have wanted it that way.
