Yeah. It sucked. Lamers that can't hit a barn unless they are facehumping. Much better now that long range fire is viable.

What you saying isn't fair, you are making brawlers seem like a cheap group of people that chose the easy way.
Brawling needs aim, turning, shielding, heat managing, calculating your enemys wep recharge time and positioning while sniping needs better but safer aiming, ok positioning and much easier heat managing

Brawling, Missiles, Sniping and Generalists should all be able to fill their roles.

Problem is things do not work that way for various reasons.

With a full assortment of maps, and random maps, it should basically be "Brawlers at a disadvantage on large maps, Snipers at a disadvantage on small maps, Generalists good on all maps, and obviously depending on LRM's/SRM's you'll fall into one of those areas".

For me the Mechwarrior golden age was a different game.

Remember when the puglic complained about splatapults being terrible?
Remember when the puglic wanted large energy to be better?

Remember the time when two large weapon balance changes rolled out back to back?

Remember how that radically changes the metagame.

Depends on the brawler... for a while there the order of the day was load up with SRMs and run at your enemy... Those brawlers were a cheap group of people that found the easy way out... Now if you want the good old days it was way back in the days of collision so that you actually had to worry about crashing into the person you were brawling with...

of course there was plenty if things that sucked about those years too so *shrug*

as with any age adapt or die.

I enjoy the game now more, brawling and scouting is more of a challenge

I agree, it is nice to see an ***** light run through 6 enemy mechs and get destroyed. I guess the months of bad hitboxes and lag shielding left some pilots with very bad habits.

Back when Jenners were "ruining the game" by being "OP" and the Raven 3L was "fine"? I remember those days. I also have not forgotten that they have not changed Jenners since, yet they somehow became "fine" since then.

The fact that my aim actually matters now is a big improvement methinks

Ahh, the good old days.

Remember the massive FPS drop you used to take if your mouse was polling more then 125 times a second?
Remember when you could make a jenner literally walk on air by overheating while using your JJs? (mech would literally float in mid air until the heat dropped. Then you'd fall like a brick)
The XL 400 Hunchbacks with AC20s?
The LRM spam?

Yeah, the good old days.

I'm apparently on a different server than op. At least half my matches were brawls yesterday. Something about terrain, cover and then brawling.

Some friends and I are boycotting the current Meta. We rolled nothing but AC/20s and medium pulse last night, our record was demolishing the enemies poptarts in 3:02 flat.

LRMs made Atlas mechs cry. A single volley of LRM20 was all it took to kill one way back in the day.

We create our own problems, really.

We find a build that is "optimal" and abuse the hell out of it, and everyone migrates to one of the two / three / four "viable" builds at the moment until they get nerfed.

And nothing will change that.

I remember the old days, but definitely not GOOD old days. Those are yet to come and with every patch I can feel them coming closer, and before we know it they will be gone ;)

I disagree.
If PGIGP would change the meta by rewarding team play
instead of the almighty KDR, things would change
significantly...
