I would much prefer non-voice chat if at all possible. Voice chat is much harder when you don't have a mic.

You forsure do not need a mic to use any of these. You can always just listen. I am totally fine reading chat when u play. But typing takes longer and takes your attention to that. It also makes it easier strat wise and the spur of the moment thing that happens during a match. Now a days you can get a pretty cheap mic thats good quality. Mpbt solaris was the first time using a voice program... ahhh roger wilco days in my crackling scratchy teen voice >.<

Shame we couldn't multi-choose.
Vent Or Mumble work fine for me.

If we have to do voice, I'd prefer Vent, since I'm requried by a Clan for another game to have it installed already. :)

There is no other game!
It's all a figment of your imagination.
This is the only game you need, even if it isn't out yet.

Skype works great for this. Its free the lag is minimal and it has text options for people that don't care to/cant use voice

Oh man! I have no idea of what to use here! Time to research! Skype does sound good though. My daughter and her friends use it when they play some western online game!

Didn't think about skype; thought video chat at first (VC clients tend to hog resources when running even in voice only mode), then couldn't remember if it allowed more than 2 people to chat (like Vent/TS), so left it off list...

Last time I checked Mumble seemed to have lowest latency and thus is likely least impacted by whatever computer setup you run. As not everybody will buy a new computer just for MWO and some people (as always) will have comps that barely meet the minimum requirements, would surely help to use VoiceComms which do not add a lot of extra processing load. Thus my vote went to Mumble (though I used Vent and both TS2&3 in the past as well).

Text-chat is the only thing required, imo.
Smeg voice-chat.

Anything but Skype, as Skype is a resource hog, especially with more than 2-3 people at once.
