It would appear the state rewind has gone to ****.

I can move, and fire as normal, my ping remains flat and under 100ms, but the actual game is 10-20 seconds ahead of what i am being shown. I can fire all day long at an atlas at point blank range and the crosshairs dont turn red even though i can see the hits on the target.

the tell tale give away is zooming in and out and the delay the game has in actually doing the zooming.

Is anyone else experiencing this non lag effect where you can move around and fire, but where you are firing there is nothing... like you are playing the game but 5-20 seconds behind the actual game?

and has anyone discovered a fix?

I can be relatively certain this is not a lag issue, or an ISP issue.

I've been having it too. It sucks hardcore.

Something I also noticed is that the "R" key function doesn't work at all except for a few rare cases, I can't acquire missile locks, my ammo doesn't properly get depleted until nearly a minute later, I can stand on caps without the game actually making it get capped, my startup sequence animation pre-match is delayed by several seconds, and my text chat is delayed by like 5-10 seconds after I type it for it to display.

Right now I'm reinstalling, when that's done I'll report back on how much it works or doesn't work.

EDIT: It failed. F*ck it.

Yes i have this happen to me when in close proximity to other mechs the shots look like there out of sync with my reticule. But i have notices also i can have a red reticule and fire all day and hit noting but AirMechs.Im usually under 100 ping for every match so its not lagg but it might be CPU-GPU bottlenecking the packets too and from the client to the server.

I am also having this issue. Game is unplayable.

One more thing to add. I was playing conquest and moved to a capture zone. I could not capture so the mech is not where it appears. I was able to actually score a hit randomly during the match, but it came when no one was on my screen. Also I cannot see the enemy mechs that are killing me.

Yes, am currently having this problem. I opened a ticket with Support and am currently patching after a full uninstall/reinstall. I'll let you know if that makes a difference.

Yea, agreed. lets address that it's a problem and lets see something resolve it. restart services if you have to, i'm sure everyone would be fine with you checking things out and bringing mwo down . granted it's a tourney, but that doesn't mean much to people who can't take part because they attack and hit mech's but than they end up dieing and it stating you did 0 damage and what not. Chat is out of sync, idk how i died to begin with, i was behind a mech shooting but apparently i was hit my 5 largelasers and a bunch of other stuff i wasn't aware of when i wasn't even taking damage.

I had this happen a lot with the last patch (not this recent one, but the one before that introduced all sorts of problems).

I reported to support, and replied with all the requested info (essentially proving that it's not me/my system/network), because they seemed *certain* it was a lag problem.

It's not lag, though. It's not ping, or jitter.

The proof in the pudding, if you will, is that unlike normal lag related desync, you can watch all the other players move and fight normally, and you can act as well, but your actions are either delayed, or after if corrects for the delay it often does not properly update your position on the client.

For example, I had one circumstance where I backed behind a hill in my Highlander, then jumped back over it and charged a Stalker. I'd been fighting him previously with no problems at all, but after I jumped back over the hill, my weapon fire appeared to detonate immediately in front of my mech. The other mechs fighting in the brawl were all behaving normally, and my commands were followed pretty much instantly, but weapon fire wouldn't behave properly. After nearly a minute, I warped back behind the hill where it became clear that I had been - according to the server - just firing into the dirt for the last minute.

I've had similar things happen frequently, and always when I've got a great ping, a wide open internet connection with speeds (measured to servers in Toronto, where the game servers are) at 20mbps down/5 mbps up or higher, and very little jitter (pingtest results of "A"). And, yeah, I'm not on wifi. I've never had problems before that patch, either, they started abruptly with the patch and have rendered the game unplayable when they happen.

i've had this problem since the april 2nd patch, and the fix for me is closing utorrent. i used to leave it on all the time in the background with very strict caps on bandwith and connection usage. but it seems to cause mwo to lag to hell and back again and it isnt ping lag or video lag it's functionality lag.

also closing my browser seems to help.

for those about to rant on system specs i5-3570k hd7950 16gigs ram 25/5mbits connection

post edit

hmm after thinking about it for a minute i wonder what ports mwo is using for it's diffrent traffic types udp and tcp. wonder if thats listed somewhere in the faq's

The fact that its occuring for many of us WITHOUT an abnormal ping indicates it is not something that is being caused by an overloaded network on the users end....

it makes me more certain that it related to the serverside host state rewind mechanism.

There is no apparent lag in the game elements as you can watch everything going on around you smooth as ever, with the only noticable exceptions being chat delay, and zoom delay (for me specifically).

Effectively the game thinks were somewhere other than where it is showing us, and that is exactly the inverse of how host state rewind works.

perhaps to differentiate this from lag related issues, we should refer to this bug as a desync issue

This problem just started for me about an hour ago.

I can run around as normal, I see every other mech moving/shooting but I do no dmg to them. When I die, I'm right where I started the match.

I reset my pc, reset my modem, and by the looks of it reinstalling dont do ****. Guess this is your issue PGI, fix your **** pls!

I've spent a lot of time troubleshooting this, and I assure you it is *not* a player side issue.

Personally, I almost never use P2P software at all, and when troubleshooting issues like this I shut down *everything* other than the game.

What's more, I've reviewed my routers logs (clear them, play, review after problems), and nothing shows up. Trivially low bandwidth used, nothing unexpected.

And, even further while testing I directly connected my pc to my modem (no router at all), and disabled my firewall. No change whatsoever.

With that said... Yeah, it's just a dumb idea to game with P2P software running, unless it's set up just right it will cause problems. This though is not due to that.
