Just finished 10 rounds in my X-5.

I was expecting to get slammed by all the Assaults running around this weekend. However, I found that as long as I kept my head, and piloted intelligently, it was actually a little easier than most matches most weeks. (Well, except on that hilly Alpine map, where there's no cover.)

I can still lose half my weapons to the Alpha strike of a cheese-build Assault. However, when that does happen, it's usually my fault for getting in too close and not using cover effectively.

Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised at being able to continue to do okay during the Assault-fest, and thought I'd share it.

Has nothing to do with being a medium, you where just fast, Assaults are weak against faster targets.

I've been having a great time with my 3L. Tons of slow targets to harass or cap from.

Heh, I just managed to say behind the enemy team's remaining two Assaults, kill them off, and win the round.

Please can we keep this Assault tourney going for another week?

You should change "medium" to "fast mechs." Try taking a 90kph 4SP. You will spend most of your time hiding on the large/open maps.

I've not been running my HBK for a while now, they just get poopy'd on.

Oh, I'm doing quite well in my longrange cents and my 90 kph 4sp, getting more kills than dying. It isn't easy but then again, has it ever been easy for Hunchbacks?

Since the PPC/Balistic HSR and highlanders came online, I'm definitely doing some re-evaluation of my playstyle in my 4SP. I'm noticing a lot more side-torso shots that are cleaving half my weapons off out of no where.

In the long term, I think the hunchback may get a new renaissance once missiles are fixed and they get their own Quirk buff.

Yup I've been rockin my Wang recently and I am loving it. Have had some terrible matches but have had some awesome matches as well.

My take: There has never been a better time to "level" light mechs. Which is why I opted in, didn`t play a single match, and bought a COM-1D instead, which has since been joined by a 3A and a 2D

I honestly can`t remember when the last time was that I had this much fun in something under 100 tons....
