Currently the LBX-10 is useless at range. I think this could be changed easily. The code is already in place for knowing the distance that is behind the aiming reticle. I assume the spread currently is read from a static value, all you need to add is a simple trig function and cap it at about 5-7 meters wide at 600 meters. I don't want to go tighter than that so that AC-2 and future small caliber LBX can compete at the longer ranges.

Its supposed to be a fragmenting submunition round with a proximity fuse, adjusting the spread would accomplish the flavor of the weapon as described in TT with minimal effort. Remember the effective cluster range in TT is 18 hexes. Can you effectively use the MWO version at that range? I sure can't.

Its hasn't always been done in the shotgun fashion. Don't you remember MechWarrior 2?

In tabletop you could switch from Scatter to Slug munitions for the LBX

Perhaps in the future they will introduce this option so that you can carry a ton of slug and a ton of scatter (or .5 I think is what you could do in TT, can't remember) and then you can switch on the fly. It DOES take time to swap out munition types.

As mentioned the tabletop allowed for swapping slug and scatter rounds just as with any shotgun style weapon.

Perhaps even have weapon specific efficiencies, such as being able to swap out munitions faster, clear jams, etc.

It's true that the range of 540-1620m for the current LB 10-X AC is silly, because anything more than 300m away doesn't take much damage at all. It's effective at ranges up to 100-150m, but compared to a normal AC/10 it's kinda useless.

A tighter spread even at higher ranges, with a constant 5-7m spread up to the optimal range, like the OP suggests, is a good idea.

it should just have a proximity fuse triggering the seperationat 2/3 or so of the distance to targetright now it's to wide to be much use at it's "lmedium" range. it's an advanced and very expensive weapon

It just needs the slug option.

I support this thread.

I think a spread shotgun blast up to around 270m and then converging as the target is further away would be fantastic. It's current range is 540m up to 1620m wtf?

I currently use the lbx because I like it, effective not really, even with the buffed crit chance, most things still have 10 hit points.
