In the style of Mechwarrior 4:Vengeance, they need an intro video for when the client launches. Im imagining the staff of pgi being the actors, and them being on some mission that leads to a battle of some sort. Without question, we do need segments that are live-action(like MW4). The rest would done using in game graphics with maybe a filter of some kind(for cinematic effect). Besides being the intro, it would make a great general launch trailer for the game. Thoughts?

No, we don't.

Frankly my favorite intro was MW2.

"Alpha Assault, what is your situation? Alpha Assault, please respond..."

Agreed with above, the MW2 intro was really exciting all those years ago, there was something really desperate and intense about it. The MW3 intro was pretty good too.

The MW4 intro was horrific; leave the dodgy live action sequences for Command and Conquer games, somehow they get away with it.

Besides, PGI already made a really good trailer for a Mechwarrior Reboot (which of course became Mechwarrior online when they couldn't get a publisher) in the vein of the intros for old Mechwarrior games.

What I find particularly interesting is how the sense of scale is much more impressive in this trailer. You really get the sense that the larger mechs are the size of multi story buildings. Somehow PGI managed to lose this scaling when making MW:O, you don't feel very far off the ground at all even in an Atlas.

The scale in that video is very good. But, every time I watch that video I keep trying to figure out why that Atlas is using an AC/5 that many shots from a 20 and the warhammer would have been dead in about 5-10 seconds after the initial backup from the atlas.

I think that's because Autocannons are usually very rapid fire weapons in Battletech. Mechwarrior Online is the first game to make them single shot weapons. Edit: I could be completely wrong about this, I'm no Battletech expert, my only contact is through MechWarrior games.

Also I don't see the Warhammer trying to use his SRM-6 on the Atlas despite being right in its face, the Atlas not using its SRM either right until the end. These pilots must be pretty low ELO....

Also that Atlas variant is silly with its useless hanging arms hehe.

There are a few guy who are really good at video editing. Like the guy who did the mech rangers video. It is time that pgi faced it and started letting us help them. No number of developers can keep up with the imaginations of battletech fans.

I think the only problem with that trailer is the Warhammer
due to the Harmony Gold fiasco so many years ago.
But I would love a better sense of scale.
I want to feel absolutely tiny and vulnerable in a Commando
or a Spider and I want to feel gigantic in an Atlas.
Ah well....

They've been single-shot since MW3 at least (I dunno about MW1 or 2).

With intermission segments like in MW4 (etc).

"I dont think that mission went as well as originally planned."

"Sir, I dont really think you want to use that MG. I mean the dmg is so low on it and those Mlas. Wouldn't it be more useful if you mounted 6 PPCs on it. I mean that is what the enemy team will be doing. Why not have the upper hand when you have a higher alpha strike."

"But what about heat efficiency? I mean, the heat generation is ridiculous!"

"Screw the heat efficiency, sir. They can't do anything to you after you blow off half their mech anyway. Besides they nerfed the heat generation. You get like, 3 shots now before you effectively shut down. Thats like 5 mechs you could take out!"

"But I would rather do...."

"Sir, it isnt about what YOU want to do. It is about riding the meta. If you dont care about succeeding, I will find myself a new company. Jones out................."

The problem with Mechwarrior 5 was not Harmony Gold. It was Microsoft. MechWarrior 5 was supposed to be available on consoles, but Microsoft wouldn't let them make it for PS3. Because of that, they didn't think it would be able to sell enough volume to make it worth the expense of developing.

I know someone (Russ, probably) has posted on this before.
