I have a AMD fx 6100 6 core processor. I have been wanting to OC it for a long time.
I raised the voltage and FSB multiplier.......took my GHZ from 3.3 to 3.7.
The strange think that I want someone to explain to me is that....
MY FULL LOAD TEMPS ARE LOWER THAN STOCK CLOCK!!!

WTF? What is this witchcraft? I overclocked a good bit and my full load 99% temps are
5c lower than my full load temps pre overclock.


Help me understand.

Are your ambient temperatures the same?

Alternatively, maybe the higher temperature finally "burned in" your thermal paste and made improved heat conduction.

Bingo. NM has it, I think.

It could be ambient temps, but I think his other hypothesis is correct. I think there was a poor thermal application, the OCed CPU got hot and/or maintained warmer non-load temps, and it spread your TIM more evenly, which reduced your temps before long.

The temp monitoring could also be out of whack, it's been known to happen.

What are you using to monitor your temps? Some programs don't actually measure the core temp. Try CoreTemp, or RealTempGT.

Lucky you, you can overclock, and I can't. My mobo's bios is messed up and Intel hasn't fixed it yet.(Or hasn't succeeded)

Did you actually have to raise your voltage? I got an FX4100 @4x4Ghz and lowered the voltage.
