Are you talking about setting weapon groups? Cose' you can do that on trial mechs.. just use the cursor keys and RCTRL to set or unset.. the problem is that sometimes, the weapons installed use more than 3 base types, so if you don't have a gaming mouse, its hard to work out weapons into 3 groups, becouse you would otherwise never group them together..

Personally, I think that they SHOULD NOT unlock pilot skills, cose' then no one would buy many mechs.. they would simply buy one variant, then work on trials to elite them out..

No way. The whole point of buying a mech is to be able to modify it. The idea of unlocks is to imply experience useing the mech. If you don't own it, you likely don't have much time in one. I don't think it's unfair in any way for it to be locked. You still get to make exp and I think that is generous.
