If you haven't played one before (or you have, but not in the last month or so), I demand you go do so this instant. Don't forget your double heat sinks and endosteel.

One-shot streak cats to remind them who is boss.

Incorrect. I currently run a 200 standard, 2 AC20s, 8 tons of ammo, endosteel and DHS.

Also, lets focus less on the specific technical nitty gritty, and more on the fact that it is hilarious to make light mechs (or slow movers that you can headshot) simply cease to exist.

if you want to be able to run your K2 as an AC/20 as well as a Gausscat and be able to swtich back and forth, i suggest you not opt for the DHS. unless you just want to buy a second K2, which some people do.

That would just make you a terrible AC20 cat, and you're back in the bad old days of over heating after 2-3 salvos.

that's cute.

Cockpit still has less than 40 points of total HP, your argument is invalid.

They are not nearly as common any more, since many of the people who played them have moved on to "easier" builds (including gauss and streak cats). Honestly in the last week or two, I think I've seen maybe two AC20 cats total other than myself.

Compared to a gauss cat, particularly before DHS were introduced, AC20 cats were at a huge disadvantage in range, speed, ammo, and heat efficiency. The DHS and endosteel have alleviated some of that. They are still slow and short range, but can carry more ammo, more armor, and run cooler than before.

Again: If you tried it before, give it another shot! I'm not claiming it is some super uber build. I'm just saying it is hilarious to see limbs get ripped off of things, rip armor off the torsos of brawlers, and head shot anything that is foolish enough to walk straight at you.

DHS and Endo steel have really breathed life into the AC20 cat. It's still a "gimmick" build, as it's not going to be very versatile, but at least it performs its gimmick really well now.

I need a "my other mech is a King Crab" bumper sticker.

Hopefully with more ammo though ;)

In MWO, absolutely. Would probably swap the LRM for an SRM, and use the saved tonnage on ammo.

But we're getting off topic. Everyone go make your Splatapults!

I call this a Whackapult, and this is one of my favorite mechs other than my D-DC Atlas, also with AC/20.

I can typically find someone to take one of these out and work with me to crush the other team.

With a combined Alpha volley of over 100 damage, nothing on the battlefield can (most of the time) survive more than 10 seconds fighting the both of us, especially at close quarters.

This is most apparent in the cave on Frost.

Kobold, I'm pretty sure we've played against each other before.
Hail, and well met!

While I do love the 20Cat....claiming it's that effective just illustrates that you keep facing opponents that don't turn away once they see what you have. Any good streakapult pilot will have a much faster engine than you...and if decent, will pick you apart slowly as you fire haplessly into the ground or into armor.

Shoot, my favorite, is to perch above your cockpit vertical limit(gotta love jump jets) and wail you while you cry foul.

I've watched it happen all too often.

TL;DR AC20Cat is only effective when facing the new or clueless.

It IS however fun to see the Awesome go down in one pull, I never get tired of that.

Nonsense. Plenty for DHS AND endosteel besides, it's how I ran my K2 up through it's basics.

One shotting Trial Cicadas is funny.

This - they're still brutal up close and now they don't overheat instantly.

Ever shoot a raven or a commando in the CT? The whole mech explodes and it starts raining parts all over the place.

I like seeing AC20 cats. I just jump-jet onto the nearest building and shoot down on them knowing they can't return fire.

Sucks not being able to look up, eh? ;-)
