Back before I stopped playing them (and switched to Jenners, to avoid the snipefest) I loved going to Theta on Frozen conquest, luring someone down to fight me, and then jumping up the cliff wall and leaving them there.

How often have you actually gotten a true 1v1, just you and the other guy, undamaged?
I almost never get to enjoy this scenario. But I have enjoyed killing several D-DCs (though I can say not yours. I actually don't think I have ever dropped with or against you), but it's usually been in the middle of a furball. still, my ERPPCs are great at any range, and open things up well for my Streaks. And the AC/20 speaks for itself.
Regardless, I think it speaks more to the skills of the respective pilots than any inherent deficiency of either chassis.

Since then however with the prevalence of poptarting Highlanders and the assault weekend I've let my HM and 733C sit in the garage a while. My Spider-5D likes the slower targets.

I usually get that "Whoops, I need to give him an other alpha"-feeling before they die. I try to focus on right torso knocking out the energyweapons (PPCs) which also makes his guided missiles useless due to ECM. Or just hit that CT as they usually lacks both dps and sustained dps and stand no chance head to head.
It will be interesting to see how the Highlander is treated by the competitive scene.

But anyway, the opfor was worse, so it worked out...especially the uac5x2 ac2x2 jager that was running around brawling at the beginning.

Also I don't know how nobody shot your CT almost the entire way lol.
If that was me playing like that I'd be dead within 2 seconds of popping over the first hill.

Spacebar, left-click. Spacebar, left-click. Spacebar, left-click. Spacebar, left-click. Spacebar, left click.
Repeat until the enemy team is destroyed. In higher ELO brackets, this is basically what has become of the game. The only other mechs you see are PPC-boating flightless assaults and ECM lights, and the latter's a rarity.
Eventually, you salt the rim of your service revolver so that it tastes like the margaritas you abuse so frequently.. Blammo.
I just want to brawl and perform Highlander Burials, man. We'll never get to do either until this charlie-foxtrot of a meta is fixed.

Your P2W sniveling has no power here. The HM is at least as vulnerable to losing a side as any of the other HGN's, depending how any particular one is loaded out.

Yeah... maybe your Elo isn't as high as you think it is. The people I play with have managed to learn the mysterious and ancient art of Not Standing In Front of the Enemy-Fu, with it's bold moves such as Using Cover and Flanking, and many of them aren't even very good (probably including myself).

This argument is so ******* terrible it's not even funny. Sure, you can attempt to use cover and flank the enemy. But, he's entrenched, and you've got to work doubly hard to get up to him, all the while taking potshots from the rest of his team (who, with any competence, will not be parked exactly on the same ridge, and will likely still have a shot at you as you advance). Once you're up to him, you've still got a gauss and damage (albeit reduced a bit) from PPCs to worry about. So, after having beaten and battered, you're still faced with a 'mech that likely has most of its armor left, and weapons that don't act as they should (going by tabletop) at minimal range.
Oh, by the way, I'd like to see you try such a thing on Alpine Valley. Depending on your spawn, you could be facing a team of snipers up on the peak of the mountain, while you attempt to duck between pitifully small ridges to get around them and into position - not to mention that their vantage point gives them the perfect shot as you attempt to move between these tiny shambles of cover.
Think, or learn to play, yourself, before parroting the same tired and, honestly laughable argument. You all act as if non-potarters need to "adapt or die," yet, it is yourselves that have adopted a build intended to keep you well clear of any danger, and assure you are most always dealt the better hand.
The game is broken. Defending it hurts yourself as much as it does me.

And you a part of the darn problem then. Don't friggen play one if it is so painful to you. No one forces you to. Your own darn fault and others of your ilk. "Oh, but I might loose then" So what. So you loose, but you will at least add variety to your play.

Yeah.. see I'm not dumb enough to go at them if I can't get to them. I just go around and make them move. You see, tactics, real tactics, not this silly-arse pop-tarting crap, are about making the enemy fight on your terms. Not going and meeting them on theirs.
I'm not parroting anything. I know how to avoid it. The people I'm playing with know how to avoid it (mostly). The people I'm playing against know how to avoid it if I try it on them (mostly). Honestly, I'd make videos if my rig would do it with a decent frame rate (sorry, I have higher priorities than dropping the dough on a gaming rig, atm), but all I can offer at the moment is that with my admittedly mediocre skills and a rig that runs at frame-rates most of you would probably consider unplayable, I still have no serious issues with pop-tarts. Sure, I've died to them. I've died to pretty much everything, at one time or another. But the only time I consider them to be a real issue is on those occasions when I get saddled with a team that wants to re-enact the Charge of the Light Brigade.
BTW, I'm not a pop-tart. I do have 4 HGN's (HM, 732,733,733C), all with JJs. And I do take some jump-shots, but I've never considered it a very good tactic, and only do it in lieu of edging in and out of cover, like other mechs, while waiting for the battle to develop or looking for an opening. I'm generally in the think of the fight, so don't try to lump me in with those stat-padders trying to preserve their KDR. Even my 733 (currently configured as a sniper) is generally moving, looking for a good firing lane to lay down a barrage, rather than take pot-shots.
My understanding is that Kong is considered one of the better corps, but I submit, sir, that months of PUG-stomping has greatly inflated your ego and caused your tactical abilities to wither on the vine.

I haven't got HM. I absolutely LOVE running my 733P and 733Cs (both of them). I do have to be careful to twist alot, and not get in the middle of a furball, because it definitely is more fragile than an Atlas, but this has been the first Assault Mech I have actually enjoyed, and no, I almost never Poptart. I just like it's blend of armor, firepower and mobility. Like it a lot better than I thought I would. I think, in a couple of months, when HM goes on sale, I might add one of them too. I was Brawling in my 733C w/ AC/20, streaks and 2 ERPPC most of the night. Haven't had that much fun since they took away my CN9-AH.
733C with an AC20 is a dream to pilot. The mobility of jets with an arm mounted AC20...its like a Wang/9AH with jump jets and even MORE weapons and armor.
I'm beginning to like the 732 also, with a nearly stock configuration.

I'm far far far from the best pilot, but I enjoy them. I've parked my other favorite mech's (Raven/Dragon) to play on this one for a bit.

2 MedLas
3 SRM6
AC20
The reason I like it so much is because it's a faster version of the sluggish Atlas, minus the ECM.
Devastating alpha and brawl punch, and it can soak almost the same amount of damage as an Atlas.
I think I originally planned to say something completely different about the HGN, can't remember, though...
Death to poptards!
