Ok so I have decided to master the Highlander chassis, which 3 of the 4 available variants would you buy and why?

The 733 and 733C both seem like solid brawlers (lbx10, 2ml, 4srm6 with artimis on the 733 : AC20, 2ml, 3srm6 with artimis on the 733C)

The 732 and 733P both seem like decent snipers (Gauss, 3 PPC on the 732 : 4ppc, 3 ssrms on the 733P)

They all seem awesome and I cant decide which one to not pick up : (

The 732 and the 733C are currently the best variants and essentially superior to the other two.

The 732 is the best poptart/sniper with a ballistics slot and 3 energy giving it the most firepower.

The 733C has the advantage of no lower arm actuator meaning it is the only one that can mount an AC/20 or dual UAC/5s for brawling.

As for the remaining two, the 733P is probably the worst as you lose your ballistic slot compared to the 732 and only gain a single energy, and losing your gauss for one more PPC or LL is simply not worth it imo.

The 733 is probably what I would go with for my third, as it can still mount the ballistics and 2 energy making it much like the 732 but with one less energy. It does gain a missile slot but overall missiles are underperforming atm. However owning the 733 will give you some more options when missiles are buffed again.

732 beefed-up stock build

733 super brawler

733C traditional brawler. This is what I have right now and works pretty damn well.

733P fire support

That's what I can come up if you don't feel like paying.

Also I flat-out refuse poptart since it's an extremely limited tactic and severely harm the pilot's macho level.

my vote is for the 733P 4xLL 2 SRM6 W/Art and an XL 325. it has been working quite well for me. leave the left arm empty, save for two DHS to shield your left torso when jumping and turning.

733P, 732, 733

I personally don't like the 733C, but U/ACs hate me. My third, and the one I kept and use, is the Heavy Metal. Best of luck.

Now I also already have the Heavy Metal which I have set up as a mid to long range fighter (gauss + 3LL and max JJ) So its already close to the 732. I dont know if this would adjust/change your opinions at all

your 733 build is very strange. You can do almost the same with STD300 instead of XL300. +0.5 ton for leg armor or whatever.

When they fix SRMs I have a feeling the 733 is going to rule them all in a brawl.

If the past two nights (at least for me) have been any indication, that may be the case already. My damage per game in these first 28 fights is more than 50pts higher than in my catapult A1... And my KDR is a full 1.5 pts higher as well. Clearly there are a lot of other factors in play right now. Lots of folks grinding these mechs up, lots of wide variations in builds and super-heavy drop weights for all teams - but all the same, the 733 has blown my expectations away.

I have a feeling that 14DHS may be not enough for 4xSRM6, but that was on my Awesome 8R which carries twin-LL as backup weapons. Hmm. It might work well methinks.

After getting used to the Jagermech and using UACs, the 733C is my go-to HGN.
getting four-six kills per match in some cases!

Put it to ya this way... I run 2LLs/4SRM6 on my 8R as well (with 17DHS). Works well and the heat is pretty easy to manage. With 17DHS on the build you're looking at (which is what I'm running), your heat efficiency should be at 1.43. That's about .15-.2 better than on my 8R. The gauss rifle is the kicker though. Even when you "do" get hot, you'll have that 15 pts of heat-neutral insta-damage to drop every 4 seconds - and you shouldn't have any problems squeezing in 4 tons of ammo or more.

732, 733 733C are the 3 you want if you do not plan on getting the heavy metal. I made the mistake of buying the P version, its really rather bad given current missile issues. Basically plays like an Awsome, and it lacks firepower. The main issue is the lack of a ballistic slot. The other 3 mechs all allow you to mount low heat high weight high damage ballistics on the mech, which is critical to boost your firepower given the current long range sniper fire play people are using.

What a waste, man.

Reshuffle it a bit and you get same firepower, nearly same heat efficiency and so on and much greater speed.
I left three slots and three tons for you to insert whatever you prefer: ammo, ams, armor.

I like the look of this build. I've been grinding all morning to get into a Highlander. I hope I like it.

If you don't have money for XL engine, or don't want to use it in assault (which is very understandable), then you could try something like this instead:

Again heat sinks could be exchanged for more ammo if you feel that you need it. No jump jets though.

Thanks for the advice which is really helpful since I realized earlier that upgrading will cost even more c-bills. Guess I should just keep going in my YLW until I have a few mil extra to set it up how I like.

I also just noticed the Pretty Baby is on sale and I'm having a hard time not buying it.

One thing for sure though, the 733C would be the best for brawling.

733 also makes a great lrm boat:

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...82fd5b033ef0b60

Also, don't shy away cause of the 6 slots in the arm. It adapts to 10 slots if lrm 10-15 are installed.

Lrms are really nerfed at the moment but this mech still puts out 49 lrm damage (theoretically) a volley.

Hands down, however, currently getting into a brawl is hard with all the poptarts.

Depending on what you like, definitely get the 733 and 733C. for either the 732 of 733P, i don't know. From the tournament, people are scoring higher with the 732 than the 733P, otherwise i can't really tell.
