working on his module slot, not because it will make him awesome but because i'm ocd and polished off the 4P and 4H. my last round with 4h was suhweeeeet! had a good team.
Spoiler

not uber tourney winning scores but it was the round that earned his module slot hooray!
but it was also a good mech for that map, or good map for that mech.

have never found joy in this 4SP mech except in medium to short range fights around choke points or hilltop encounters. currently using a less is more approach with 5ML and 2SRM4+ART.

i just hate LRM's ya know? and i also hate leaving a left and right torso full of nothing but double heatsinks for larg pulse lasers or whatever. i do like srm's tho... was experimenting putting a case on each side of him, a tag in his cockpit and a BAPs and all sorts of stuff.

help me find joy for this last 21.5k worth of mech xp instead of wandering in the wilderness like some Israelite. be my manna, my smoke screen by day and my pillar of fire by night lunch time.

see, I know, it's a tough mech to make something special out of. I'm sure that for the last few hours several of you have been working on your own 4sp's to find some build that is balanced and can rock, ie: a build much better than mine. :) so here's what I've been playing with, help meh!

My standard build:
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...80a5fdf13f8094f
This build is easy to tweak.

Here's an idea I had for replacing the 4 MLAS with 2 LLAS.
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...5b6b7daa7dd25ca
I haven't tried it out yet, but the greater range might help on larger maps.

This is a good build to get used to the 4SP in, especially considering the current need for range.
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...9651d2384edd88f

However, I don't find that Artemis helps SRM4s nearly as much as it helps SRM6s, so for a more powerful mech that is SIGNIFICANTLY harder to pilot, I have been using this monstrosity:
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...6d2bd123008d9f9
It's heat efficiency is much lower than I usually go for, but it has worked out very well for me so far. Just remember that you don't have to fire everything at once!

I run http://mwo.smurfy-ne...a1cb55641d99956 .

Pretty similar to the stock loadout, but faster and with better cooling. While artemis is nice (really nice) I just don't feel that the additional tons and slots are justifiable on a mech this light. You're fast (ish) and do all your best work at knife-fighting range anyway so the extended range is nice, but not essential. I prefer sticking in a couple extra DHS instead, which keeps you in the fight for a long long time. I don't run my 4SP much these days because of how bad missiles are, but pretty much any build you run with the hbk excep the llas/ppc configs will have the same problem. Once missiles are a bit more reasonably balanced, it will be a wrecking machine again.

"because of how bad missiles are,"
yea i'm beginning to feel this way again i'd hoped they improved a little, I havn't played them in awhile and they do seem better, with the artemis... it's just the dmg is so nill. they hit a smidge more.... but gah.

had a couple good rounds in this guy but felt more luck than anything and my teams were being good spotters, I got lucky with some perfect range alphas, close enough to hit with all 5 lasers and both LRM's, but that all just seemed lucky.

My personal loadout on my 4SP is 4 MLs and 2 streaks. Unlike most Hunchie builds I don't look for heavies/assaults to nail, I run around and mess with lights. Biggest engine you can cram in so you go at 92.7 kph, and a TAG and you're unpleasant to lights. Not much else though.

HBK-4SP

This is my Hunchie. It has good heat, good speed, plenty of ammo, and a nice tight grouping with Artemis.

Enjoy!

This is my hunchie, high damage good speed, full amour, but with the XL, which i find is ok with the 4sp.
people dont go hunch hunting when its the 4sp...

The build you originally posted is good, but swap out that 195 for a 250 STD and it should really shine. The 4SP with 5 mlas and two SRM racks hits hard but you need to 250 to get into position range quickly or flank. Once you are running around at 80-89 kph you can deliver that 37 damage barrage where its most needed, often to devastating effect. While I love my ballistic HBKs the 4SP boasts the highest damage stats.

My build
I got pretty pleasent results with him, hes's not as fast as possible, and may lack some ammo in case of longer engagments, but is pretty balanced in brawling terms, especially with elite efficiencies...

swap the head laser for a ton of ammo and that mech is even more awesome

With missiles pretty bad right now I was going to try this.
HBK-4SP
4 LL with 40% Heat efficiency at 91kph sounds like fun.

pretty sexy build. might give it a run. good point on the missiles, maybe forego them.

i'd at least want to put a small laser in the cockpit hehe. i'm a firm believer that if ya can shoot while zombie, ya should. but theres an XL in that build so being a zomby wouldn't happen anyways. even the SP will get it's right torso blown out first. everyone goes HBK = RT = dead ;) no zombying there. i got the module on it at any rate go nerdy me!

i've been running the std250, 2 SRM6+artemis, 3 tons of ammo,, and 4 ML

the mech works really well for taking down lights, and mediums.. and you can really dish on bonus damage to heavy+assaults in groups. I could drop leg armor down a little to add a Small laser to the head.. But the shorter range if you bind it with the other 4 lasers, it seems like half the time it is just adding extra heat, so not really sure if it is worth it

Though maybe i will drop in a pair of LRM5's to try just for fun... this mech is a pain when you are getting ranged.

3xLL
2xSSRM2

DHS
ES
FF
STD230

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...a48d9de6412ebb6

Expensive with all the upgrades, but the strength of this mech is its multiple redundancy (you don't lose 4/5 of your weapons if you lose your right torso) so I figured make sure it can stay alive as long as possible.

STD320 engine for durability and speed (82kph with speed tweak) with FF for 12% extra protection. ES for weight saving. DHS for the enormous heat you'll be generating. SSRMs to help take out lights (mediums specialise in hunting lights).

If you play hit and run you can easily average two kills a game, especially if you're up against heavies.

I am running something like this, but with an Endo structure, an ERPPC, 3 MPL's and a single LRM-10 with 15 DHS. I had 2 LRM-5's but the slots and spacing only let me get 14 DHS out of it. So I consolidated the 5's to a single 10, and crammed another DHS into the opposite torso. The engine is a XL245 I had laying around from an SDR build.

I like the ERPPC for range and ECM disruption. The heat can be a killer, though.

I run this setup and like it.
2 LL and 2 SRM-6 with a Std 240 Engine.
It usually gets me a halfway decent score.
