I would like to set up independant free look and torso control. I recently got a razer nostromo and I can assign the thumb stick for moving the torso but there doesn't seem to be a way to remove the mouse control for the torso. Also the free look seems to be tied into the torso control.

Is there anyway that I can use the user.cfg or something so that I can operated the freelook and torso control independently?

So you really do have to post in General Discussion for any kind of response......

There is a button, I think it's leftctrl by default, that allows you to look around your cockpit. The thing is, you're not actually just turning your mechwarrior's head, you're just taking dedicated control of your arms and locking your torso. You can control the arm reticule, but it stops when it reaches the edges of it's turning and your head turns the rest of the way. It's not like in flight sims where you can look out your window while flying.

As far as I know, there's no way to get true freelook right now because getting control of the arms, and by extension your warrior's head, you lock your torso. The game only recognizes one cursor, the arms, and the torso tracks that to the best of its ability. Even if you could remove the mouse controls from the torso (say, by setting up a macro to that leftctrl was always active, giving your mouse independent control of your arms), the torso doesn't have separate controls for moving independently of the arms.

your trying to reinvent the wheel.

stick with torso on the mouse and keyboard for turning, and you will be happy.

but if you insist on trying to revolutionize something that has been "tried & proven", and possibly will never be as good as other plays who use the aforementioned, than use your custom settings.....

Deamhan - I have the same issue. I want to be able to control my free look and my targeting reticles separately. I've been digging for a solution to this, haven't found one yet.

Actually you can do that with arm lock on, but that's probably now how you want to play. Fine for me like that, though.

You totally didn't understand what the OP wants. Read it again. He wants independent control of arms and torso, not torso/legs.

I can see applications of this, and also think this would be a great feature to have. It would make it easier to "cross-body shoot", or to align the arms to block shots, without having the torso whipping around all over the place (forcing you to take the torso to the limit before making a cross-body shot, reducing your options for maneuvering), because both arms and torso are tied together.

Left Ctrl is free look and has nothing to do with your arms. I literally turn my awesome's sideways and use CTRL to to look out my side window and drive with my shield arm in front of me. Works a charm.

^ not true. using freelook your arms follow, allowing you to aim at very high angles, at mechs that are directly above or below you. Just pay attention to the little circle, that's where your arm weapons shoot.

Personally I think there should be an option to automatically enable freelook if you mouse farther than what torso twist allows, just like the armlock toggle or the speed throttle toggle.
