A variation of this tactic has the four mechs moving in line 30 meters apart. When the first mech engages, it moves to the right 30 meters then forward, The next mech moves to the left, then forward. Next right, next left. All the while, the mechs focus fire on the first enemy mech. None are in each other's line of fire, and only one in the line is likely to be targeted. Once the enemy mech is destroyed, they regroup and head for the next mech, the mech closest to that mech becoming the head. Of course, this will rarely work in a PUG, unless someone read this post and recognized the tactic. It also works with any number of mechs of any size as long as they stay in formation.
