So I was reading the good advice and build variants for the 4X Raven today and as I am grinding out the 2X wondered what the current thoughts were for a 2X build.
I am currently using this with moderate success but would appreciate a critique of the build and suggestions on others
Thanks in advance

I present the Peltast, a well rounded, RVN-2X. This is for those that want to think outside of the box and try something different.
Details: RVN-2X
Firstly, you must know your role: You're a skirmisher.

Duties
- Be within running distance to your main force (stay close)
- Disrupt the enemy's formation
- Lure to your main force
- Flank when possible
- Pick on the stragglers
- Scouting is secondary (when possible, let someone else scout)
- Avoid Light duels (you're not equipped to battle Lights)

Nice enough build StalaggtIKE, what was very interesting as I read your post was that the role(s) you mention are almost exactly how I play my 2X.
Its funny isn't it that a light can't easily fight other lights? But your again so correct I'd rather fight another Light in my 3L or even my 4X. My current 2X with its double flamer is designed to sow some havoc if I get bounced from my normal Jakle like edge harassment tactics. SO far overheated one mech with it (on Caustic) and run away while he was asleep...

Here's what I've been running in my 2X: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...d6b40c6f822b523
XL 245, twin LL, and a single SSRM.
The twin LLs are nice, placing them together means that they hit the exact same spot, and a pair of LLs does a fair amount of damage to an unsuspecting target. The SSRM was thrown on more as an afterthought - just something to fling at other lights to convince them to ****** off.
Although scrounging for that XL 245 can be expensive. I really like the speed (125 with speed tweak), I find it makes the Raven a lot more survivable. Too slow and you can't break away from a mech that has decided that you're it's next meal.
Edit: it's always interesting to find out what the swear filter will catch. Didn't think 'bigger' with a 'u' was much of a bad word.

Now I used to run with a 2 x LL variant before they gave LRM's some love. Pretty effective as well, but I'll admit with the exception of my 3L I have been a bit put off XL engines. Now that I have updated my graphics card perhaps its time to try that extra speed over the engines comparative vulnerability.
Thanks for the option.
Also its more amusing what the profanity filter doesn't catch, sometimes simply pluralising a word makes it think its okay all of a sudden!

A few thoughts:
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...739fe2784f1d8c8
It has more ammo, more firepower, TAG and BAP. More than enough heat efficiency, and much faster than your build. Instead of only 12 shots with the LRM15, you now have 24 shots. That's important, if you want to play the range game. You could even get rid of the BAP and get 3 tons of LRM ammo with CASE!
- If you're packing an LRM15, then you never want to get close to the enemy, so flamers are kind of a waste of space. If you do your job right, you won't be using them. If you do it wrong and get caught in a brawl, they will barely help you at all, because most of your firepower is useless at close range.
- If you're packing an LRM15 and playing the range game with a Raven 2X, at least get TAG and you should strongly consider a BAP. If the enemy has ECM and you don't have TAG, most of your weapons will be wasted for most of the match.
- As soon as you can afford it, get the XL engine. It's not mandatory for Ravens, but I would say it's the best choice for a Raven LRM boat.
- Get Ferro Fibrous upgrade if you have enough free slots.
