It was supposed to be just a normal day for our little streakapult today. A day of river relaxation, whereupon he would a nice walk, perhaps even dip his leg actuators in some of the cooling water in River City. Unforunately, someone decided to organize a terrible game of Assault, and conscripted our hapless streakapult to join them in a fight to the death. Good thing his team was down a mech, making it a 7v8.
Now before we get ahead of ourselves, let's correct a small lie. This catapult wasn't actually a real streakapult. Indeed, his first missile rack on each arm had been replaced with LRM-15's; due to a boating accident, or so the story goes. Ever since though, this cat had never had a good time with other mechs, perfering to hide in the back. Once in awhile though, he would gather the courage to run up to the front, only to be stared down again by an angry Atlas or other grumpy assault mech.
So when the Assault first began, the streakapult did what he could do hide with his team, firing his LRM's. Sometimes jumping, sometimes just sitting, he would merrily shoot away, until the enemy team pushed through the river and cut his team in half. After seeing an Awesome go down, to his left, he decided to run right, hoping no one would care about the wee little streakapult. But a Jagermech and Cicada took notice. The Cicada
having early run into the streakapult, firing its machine guns, only to realize that not only did Streak SRMs hit harder, and our streakapult wasn't armored like a bug. Now the Cicada hoped for its revenge.
Our streakcat did the only thing he could, run like the wind, and hide in the buildings, and jumping over whatever obstacles came in his way. He tried to run to teammates, but the Jager's lasers and LBX cut them all down. However, their sacrifices bought him time, at least enough to climb the platform to the enemy base. There was only a lone enemy Highlander there, who had just been duking it out with a friendly Raven. The Raven lured the Highlander out, and for a brief moment in time, the streakapult found peace, only to be rudely interupted by an angry K2 Catapult.
The K2, having come off victorious in the fight at the river, was returning to base in answer to the Highlander's calls for help. His aim was off though, a grave mistake against a streakapult. Streak SRMs buried themselves into the K2's open center, scoring the streakapult's first kill. It was then that the Cicada came up looking to avenge his fallen comrade. However, his early skirmishes with the streakcat had been too much, and he too was a victim of Streak SRMs into his center torso. The jagermech, who had gotten distracted earlier by the streakcat's teammates, now came up as well, hoping for an easy kill. Alas, he too fell victim, as a momentary distraction by the Raven pulled him off the real danger. Like the two before him, the unerring aim of Streak SRMs cut him down.
Now the Highlander had returned, eager to defend his base against a half dead streakapult and Raven. His armor was still fine, although not without bruising. By now, the little streakapult had open armor on over half his body. It was all he could do to hide behind the enemy capture point, and throw out missiles whenever the Highlander looked away. For the Highlander knew the havoc an unchecked Raven could cause, and focused all his efforts on the Raven. The Raven, while experienced, was no match for a mech over twice his weight. With his last laser, he burned a deep hole into the Highlander's center torso.
With his only teammate dead, our Streakapult was out of options. With his back against the ropes, he popped out from behind the point, and fired a salvo. The Highlander fired as well, but missed the crucial body of the streakcat. The streakcat popped out, and fired another salvo, this time scoring true. The highlander fell down, never to fly again.
Yet the match still continued. The streakapult checked his comms, and saw that all his teammates had fallen. Only he remained. Hugging the point, he wondered who on the enemy team was left. So he waited, and waited.....and waited.
Somehow, one enemy highlander had survived the fights, but had gotten lost somewhere in the city. Unable to return to his base in time, the match was decided, and our little streakapult, was able to limp home a scared, but whole mech.

They need to make a pixar movie out of this one.
A tale full of hope, or triumph over adversity, showing the value of perseverance.
And of not going up against ECM mechs.
