What Do Founder's Cat?

I've had the Founder's Cat after buying the Elite Pack just to be in the game, but after months and months playing this game it's just sitting there collecting dust. When I tried playing it, I find it's x4 MLs and 2x 15 LRMs very inferior. I tried different made-up builds of mine but they're out of my range to pay for.

My request is how should I play this mech and what build is recommended for it.

Thanks in advance ;)

My build used in these shots...
Spoiler

Is 22 Double Heatsinks, XL 315 engine, twin ER PPCs, no missiles. Couple of jump jets. Works pretty well. I actually use the jump jets for vaulting over things more than pop-tarting (you're too fat of a target to really do that). 80+ kph with speed tweak, able to pump out several shots before "Easing off," plenty of torso twist. Not the most lore-friendly build, but it helps in these trying times.

Hope that helps.

My Cat runs with 2 MPL, 2LL and 2 Streaks and default engine (build is from repair&reload times).

Max the engine (315XL) and change streaks to artemis srm6 if you like and don't forget the JJs.

Runs cool and deals lots of damage but don't get cought alone. It's a nice all rounder. Maybe take some PPCs for the LL and go scout hunting or so :(

Well,

IIRC the Founder's Cat is the C1.

If/when LRM-s get fixed, you can go XL300, endo, 2 LRM15+ART, TAG, 2x Large Laser, rest DHS, and 1-4 jump jets as you see fit, sensor range, target decay, 360 targeting or info gathering modules.

Combat cat in the competitive play builds post by Protection: http://mwomercs.com/...e-mech-designs/ .

After the LRM nerf I just went with 3x Large Pulse Lasers and no missiles for the lulz, with JJ-s, had great fun melting faces.

Or you can go PPC-s now, with streaks/whatever added.

Cats still good. As someone in another post pointed out, whatever is the current FOTM from dual AC20 to 6xSRM6 to 4xPPC, streaks, you name it, there is a Cat variant you can slap it on and giggle.

I've also had good luck with 3x large lasers and a couple of light SRM racks

I use it as a fast lrm platform to flank from far away. At 800m at 86 kph your damn hard to snipe and you have enough of a head start to get the f-out if the lights comes your way.

Currently, the best purpose to me seems to be using it as a poor man's K2 and equip it with two (ER) PPCs. Just two LRM launchers just doesn't work so well. I think even when LRM was deemed OP that was a fundamental problem. Usig LRMs and other weapons require two very different tactical approaches, and if your mech is not boating LRMs, you're not versatile, you're just inefficient.

There are two different configs I enjoy on my C1. The first is an alteration to the classic LRM-C1 which subsitutes LRM 20s for 15-size launchers but which packs an additional ERPPC. Very flexible, but takes some time to get used to. Will hopefully be back in force when LRMs get looked at again. Here's the build without looking it up ingame: LRM+ERPPC C1.

The other version is my own variant of the so-called Combat Cat which forgoes LRMs but changes the C1 to a nice brawler by mounting 2x ASRM-6 plus either 3 LL or a mixture of LPL and ML: CombatCat C1.

Both of them appear to run a bit hot on paper, but the trick is to use the weapons intelligently. On the first variant for example I try to hang back as long as possible and use as much LRMs as possible to support the team and soften up the enemies. ERPPC and ML are fine in finishing opponents later.

300 XL engine, 2 PPC's, 2 Mlas, 2 Streak 2's, Endo steal, double heat sinks, 2 JJ's, and you can figure out the armor. It's a FUN mech, fast, agile, effective at all engagement ranges... Yeah, it's good times!

Here's the Founder's build I run with nowadays.

It's my go to money maker. It's good at all ranges. I only included Artemis as it was installed from when I used it with LRMs. If you take it off you can throw in a slightly larger engine or a few jump jets. I was just too cheap to pay to take it out.

The Founder Cat is actually pretty damn good. Here's a quick build for you...

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...56b71ef0d8b3758

Have group 1 be your PPC's

And then Have group 2 be your SRMs and mLas

XL300
3xJJ
3@SRM
16DHS
Endo Steel

2xPPC
2xSRM6
2xmLas

Happy Hunting with 30% monies.

I've been running mine semi-stock - two ALRM15s and 4 MLs, BAP, 300XL and JJ. That being said, it's been sitting on a shelf collecting dust.

My next plan was to strip the weapons, put ERPPCs in the torso, fill up on DHS, and turn it into a jump K2. I may leave a pair of streaks in the ears, just depending on how weight plays out. Something like this:

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...e161380f0db6669

Although it'll mean stripping ES off my current build.

Thanks for the replies, I think I found out what build to choose, Dual PPCs and dual med lasers are good as well as LRMs or SRMs on the arms. I have a XL 300 Engine, so that should be good.
