Yes, on the condition they rename it and reskin it from "Awesome" to "Charger." It pretty much is a Charger already!
That said, no. To fix the Awesome they need to put in WEIGHT or BV matching not mess with it's stats. If it cost far less to use for the team than a Stalker/Highlander/Atlas, you'd see a lot more pop up.
EDIT: Also, the Quirk system could be very helpful here. If you gave the Awesome 10% better heat efficiency, for example, you'd suddenly find that it would be a viable option over the Stalker.

I can almost go with this. I actually enjoy piloting my awesomes with their current engine sizes, but the deal is that if you pilot an awesome (at least right just now) you almost have to play it like a heavy, and not like an assault. There're a lot of reasons for that--the hitbox issues, the amount of in-frame space for heatsinks, and the fact that awesomes are matched up against larger, meaner assaults being some biggies. Ultimately for me it comes down to a question of 'should the awesome be worked over so it can be played more like an assault (albeit in it's niche, separate from the atlas or highlander or what-have-you), or should it be worked over so it can be better played as 'the biggest heavy'?'
I choose to say: let's improve the version we've got, rather than go back to the way things are 'supposed to be.'
Though I will say I would still love the awesome either way--if it were worked over for its 'largest heavy' role or for its 'vanguard assault' role.
