At this point, I'm just kinda curious how long this thread takes to get locked. I mean, they are locking down anything and everything, everywhere, talking about general discussion at all. I've never seen Devs or Mods respond to anything that fast in the entirety of the game. It's kind of amazing.

I mean, this is the "sub forum" asking for feedback about the forums, and we are telling them what we think, and they are systematically shutting it down.

Ya know, I tried to bring myself to play yesterday, I really did. I like the game, and I like the guys I play with. I just couldn't do it without feeling like I was just accepting what they give.

Either way, I give this thread 2, maybe 3 responses before they lock it. Any takers?

3 responses, I'm thinking an hour and then off to k-town.

Or locked, or deleted.

I'm just glad there are some people out there brave enough to risk a forum ban to make the mods work for their censorship, even if most of the grunt work is being done by the volunteers.

Godspeed sir.

My favorite part is the canned response they copy paste before locking a thread also includes where to request new sub forums.. cause the 50ish sub forums we already have aren't enough, we clearly need more.

I do hope that they don't ban me. I'd like to continue playing the game, I really enjoy it, but it they seriously give me a forum ban for Posting a request where I'm supposed to post it, I'm not going to be able to bring myself to play anymore.

If you need some help I could report this thread for you.
I guess I would report it for "Stating things PGI does not want to hear."

Need General Discussion back. Too many subs to look through for anything interesting.

What do you expect? PGI made a business decision to NOT have a general forum. They told everybody why they did it, and, quite frankly, they were right.

So ... you guys are surprised when they lock down QQ threads that don't add anything to the conversation other then WAH WAH WAH?

Prove them wrong, make some salient point as to why it's wrong, then maybe you will get a valid response and not get it locked / moved / deleted.

Good Luck though. They were right, most of the threads in General Discussion *should* have been in already existing sub-forums. That made it a mess, and good threads fell off the main page instantly. At least with sub-forums, good threads will stay on the first page longer then 5 mins.

They stay on a page that no one sees, in a sub forum no one visits. How, exactly, is that constructive? How does that improve the community in this game?

Google "Lab Rats Cheese Maze" and you will find the answer. I am assuming your at least as smart as a lab rat?

Again, they stated the reasons, you have not refuted them. Try to refute the actual reasons they gave. Did you even read / comprehend the reasons?

Yes, I read their post concerning the matter. I didn't know I needed to refute something so completely wrong, but ok, we'll play. They were stating that the General Discussion thread was simply useless. More specifically, they are stating that it contained nothing besides aimless conversation and data, as well as duplicate topic postings. They said this was in no way helpful to game growth.

I think that they are entirely wrong on the last point.

First of all, General Discussion was the central hub of the forums. It is where people would go to see the topics of the day, and to test the waters. Simply as a social tool, to help build community, it was invaluable, and for that reason alone, should be re-implemented.

Still, that is not the only reason. Duplicate threads are, in ways, much more useful than 50+ subforums. Most of these new forums, no one will see, because most people will not sift through them, or simply are not sure where to put their posts. That, coupled with The mods being Lockdown-happy as of late, has scared people from posting. In GD, if there were 20 threads about LRMs being problematic created in one day, yuo don't need to read every thread. You can just look at the thread count itself and know that there is an issue. People weren't scared to post in GD, and that made it a MUCH more accurate sampling of the cares and gripes of the community, as well as the state of the game.

All that super-segregating the forums has done is either confused people into not posting, or scared people into not posting. Then, PGI can say, "Look, less people are complaining, we must have fixed it!", pat themselves on the back, and go on releasing a sub-par product.

Any sociology, psychology, or business study will agree with what I've said. There is nothing good that can come from eliminating the primary conversation-dump on this forum.

Hey, we have 55 sub forums (i think), most of them useless and we are still missing an Add-ons/Modifications forum, which would be a damn important one for guys like me who'd like to make mods.

Otherwise it will probably get moved to a remote corner to be forgotten.
