Sadly true. I just saw a match that I hope doesn't become a trend: sniper-build Assault partial premades who run to a predetermined point and ambush. This has always been done to some degree or another, but with the new matchmaker, dropping with all assaults is more likely to break tonnage matching. We had a couple of Centurions trying to outperform stalkers in a pitched battle; wasn't pretty, although we tried. Normally, in that situation you would have more options for counterplay; some of them would be non-snipers, or LRM boats, and you could snipe or bombard them with your own LRMS... Now, since LRMs don't hurt much, and there's very few drawbacks to using an ERPPC for everything, this tactic is hardter to counter. The first guy who runs into that ambush point is dead/red, and now you're down one with a tonnage imbalance.

Note that this isn't ZOMG GAMEBREAKING, it's just annoying as sin, and the mark of bad players. I bring it up only to point out that the current metagame makes this sort of thing just that much harder to beat.
