I agree with you. I actually feel like AC/2s are slightly overpowered, especially when compared to AC/5s. I feel like the following would actually balance things out better and allow MGs to have a nominal DPS around 2 in ideal conditions (which never happen).
  • AC/2
    • Cycle Time: 0.65s
    • Damage per Hit: 2
    • Heat per Shot: 0.75
    • DPS : 3.07
    • HPS: 1.15
  • AC/5
    • Cycle Time: 1.5 or 1.4
    • Damage per Hit: 5
    • Heat per Shot: 1.2
    • DPS: 3.33 or 3.6
    • HPS: 0.8 or 0.86
  • AC/10
    • Cycle Time: 2.5
    • Damage per Hit: 10
    • Heat per Shot: 3
    • DPS: 4
    • HPS: 1.2
  • AC/20
    • Cycle Time: 4
    • Damage per Hit: 20
    • Heat per Shot: 6
    • DPS: 5
    • HPS: 1.5
The adjustments to AC/2 and AC/5 are rough numbers, but i'd like to see something like it tested at least.

maybe not more weapons but types of ammo. like plasma heat shells that deal heat and little DOT. tracer rounds, laser colors that might affect the amour types differently. the possibilities are endless.

But im realy surprised with LRM+SSRM poll results - guys do you realy think that LRMs are fine?! Come on ... Same to SSRM - you realy think that all those "3xSSRM+ECM" boats are ok?..

P.S. Im playing with LB-X at my DRG, and all what I can say - there are a lot of much more problems to solve then buff LB-X dmg :( Well, lets keep dreaming about LB-20-X -_-
