Which is a problem that I feel for ya, brother. Equality of posting for all.

Strangly I don't think I've ever made a post about PGI killing my puppy. Perhaps we can work together to petition for a subforum for loss of puppies related to PGI efforts. But no, in reality, it's more than just allowing us to post dissatisfaction. It's allowing us to have a sense of community, whether it be jointly for something or against. Except for the forumocalypse and certain aspects of ECM, I've been very supportive of PGI and reacted negatively to the "sky is falling" mentality.
I think you are looking too narrow at this, brother. Open your eyes and bask in the warmth of enlightenment and freedom, and let others do the same. We just want good old general forums back, for more reasons than I can post, for more reasons than I even agree with.

I enjoyed GD back when everything was constructive. What happened?

Open beta.
Console gamers and those who don't know that they're supposed to be testing a game and not just playing it were let in. I blame Facebook games where everything has a Beta title, but really, it's a live game.

Stop this senseless bickering. I think you both are on the same side and don't realize it yet.
Roadbeer, while I admire your style of trolling, it is exactly that by your own admission, and you are trying to K-town this thread because of something Bishop said? What about the rest of us actively trying to have discussion? Think of the children, brother. Embrace your inner forumhood. You've been in the depths of K-town far too long.
Also, let's try to stay on topic... I know that sounds odd coming from me.

Odd, I see players from closed beta making statements contrary to your belief. Whether the game is in alpha (as some have suggested), beta (as PGI has suggested), quasi-live-beta (as other have suggested), it should have no bearing on the destruction of GD and it's unhallowed reincarnation in P&D.
What does this have to do with the new forums?

Pointing fingers won't really solve any of the problems here we are discussing. Though I don't think they are entirely at fault, let's say for the sake of argument new players turned GD into something you see as bad. Do you agree then that absolving it was the solution; that it was not fixable? If so (or not), let us know why.

I have nothing against the new players. I'm just stating an observation I had. Also not trying to point fingers. But anyways.....I would not mind GD back if people did not abuse it you know?

In what ways do you believe people were abusing it? In what ways can the mods counter such abuse effectively?

The main thing is how endless the rage topics were. It's fine if you are disatisfied but to let it make you so angry and hateful is ridiculous. I was disgusted by how, just the little things, would set a bunch of people off. Take the Trebuchet release for example. PGI did not give us some art for it and people were worried that the Trebuchet would not get released the next day. The rage was mind blowing.....yet the mech still came out and the set date. Should PGI have a nice fixed schedule? Sure! But acting like the way people did that day was terrible. As for countering? Just do the same thing mods have always done. Lock em up or send them to nice cozy K-town. But then we would end up with the same thing we had days ago. A hateful section of the forums. So I guess the best thing is to have people mature up, but since this is the internet that will not happen.

You'll remember that 2000 word post I put up about "Why you're probably wrong"?
Many of the people who 'liked' that and posted, "Great thread" in it, paid absolutely NO attention to it. Not only was it a cautionary tale of what prompted me to troll people, but how to also not get moderated. Then they start crying about being moderated, and like a petulant child, start raging against the MODs, PGI, Kim Jung Un, whoever... the noise got out of control, but I didn't mind because they just kept giving me troll food.
I wouldn't have 2200 posts as a self-admitted troll (90% of it in GD) if people would follow simple courtesy, half the trolling I did was because the posts were unnecessarily inflammatory. If you have a legitimate gripe, take a second, go outside for a smoke and think about what is going to get your point across best. The problem became that GD was just a one-off posting ground where a legitimate post on observations about... oh, lets say ECM, would get drown out by 50 screaming "******* FIX ECM NOW YOU *******."

Good points.
The problem I had with it was related and yet polar, where the raging silly posters and well thought out posts were directed to the same official post, even if they weren't related. All that did was turn the official post into a raging silly post with bits of well thought out dialect here and there. In my mind, I see nothing wrong with multiple threads about, say, ECM, if they are discussing different things about it. Say, One is discussing why ECM is only on certain mechs and how the meta would change if it was allowed on others, why another topic decried the missile jam and how it affects LRM users, while another discusses perhaps the IFF cloak. You *could* merge all 3 into 1 topic, and while getting a good mix of how all 3 topics interact, you weaken any argument for or against each change as a whole, and end up with either nothing being changed (current state of ECM), or drastic changes (LRMs over the many iterations). We need a PPC/AC approach to it, slight changes and then investigating those.

On topic: PGI cut the heart out of the forum and sacrificed it to Cthulu. The sanitized and frankly boring remnants lack any sort of zest or life. People are mad, and frustrated, and tired of the mods being thought police. But, all that 'misplaced rage' is conveniently swept under the 30 new rugs that IGP just redecorated with.
It's amazing this thread is still open, honestly.
I'll keep my popcorn ready for the next huge rage bomb that PGI is almost assuredly going to drop. Hard not to see this as anything other than a preemptive strike.
But, not to worry, Roadbeer and Voridan will be ready to point out how immature my posting is and how my opinion isn't theirs and therefore doesn't add to the discussion.

I'm just surprised your still here. Didn't you post in DP that you were ragequitting?
