I can't pilot an Atlas anymore.

Atlas cease to be fun for me.

Awesomes have speed and so will be the incoming Victor, Stalkers have huge numbers of weapon mounts, Highlanders have smaller torsos and JJs thus are more survivable.

What does an Atlas have? Cover-boy ego-boost? Too bad you can't shoot with that thing. The gigantic side torsos makes them impossible to run XL, thus to carry enough weapon you're mostly likely to be stuck with the stock 48.7 km/h speed, which is SLOOOOOOOOOOOOW.

And half way though composing this post, I feel like it could be narrowed down to...well, massive PPC boating. An Awesome can escape from PPC-boats with speed or help themselves with the shield-arms. Stalkers and Highlanders themselves are PPC-boats. What can an Atlas do? Well, a DDC with an experienced pilot could possibly lead a gank, but two seconds peeking from cover and it's dead meat. RS can boat PPC too but those are on the waist-level, thus are outclassed by STK and HG.

Basically, they're either too slow to run or too underarmed to fight back.

Welp. This has become a PPC rant again. I should probably get some sleep.

P.S. I wonder, what if we put the energy-weapon mounts on arms to the bottom of the box instead of the top? Isn't that the original design anyway?

Well XL engine is a bad idea in all assault mechs. So the Atlas gives you the most free tonnage to play with.

Also you can torso twist with this baby, good luck with that in a stalker. Can't say anything to the Highlanders, haven't tried them enought. But the atlas is the better brawler.
Did i forgot the AC20? Hell yeah this thing rocks.

Oh and there is ECM :)

You can run atlas builds with a Std 350 engine, giving you ~63 kph after speed tweak. I run my D-DC with 2xLL, AC20, 3xSRM 6 with a Std 325, giving me a respectable 58 kph. Still my favourite assault mech to play, and I've mastered Atlas, Highlander, and played a Stalker 3F. I've stayed away from Awesomes, everything about that Torso screams "shoot me here".
