I got a mouse and keyboard, no need to invest in inferior input devices.

HOWEVER...

1) Hawken is basically just an FPS with mech skins on things. Controlling a game as fast-paced as that (which is more akin to Quake than anything) with two joysticks seems beyond idiotic.

2) What's with all the switches in the middle? Looks cool, but are probably just decoration. I guarantee you there's nothing in Hawken that would warrant taking your hand off of one of the sticks and flipping switches in the middle. It's not DCS: A-10C, you're going to die a lot, so unless you have to reset all the switches every time you die, they probably do nothing.

3) The keyboard is a weaksauce rubber pad, which are notoriously impossible to use for typing with any speed or accuracy.

4) What's with the 'pilot name'? This tells me that this setup is a rare one-off production run for LAN machines or some sort of public appearance, not for consumers. Why would I want a glowing LED showing me my own name, constantly?

There are two things for me about this.

1) Razer quality. Their quality control is lacking at times
2) price. Razer charges a preimum for thier stuff

Ill wait and see. If people say that it holds up and is a good product without breaking the bank, ill buy one. Otherwise ill just get a throttle and stick somewhere else.

I said I don't know, but I'm leaning very close to yes. It really does make a huge difference having a flight stick vs. the keyboard and clicking. If the pictures are accurate, such as a map to look at w/out having to use hot keys and other keys that will probably be customizable(sp), it really may be worth it. Really depends on if they put a ridiculous price on it or not.

Like everyone says looks good but how practical. I have the ability for 3 screens and divide what I want on to what ever screen i want so I might just stick with what I have.

The idea is interesting but no way i'llo be able to afford it. anything with a screen on it has to be like 400+ dollars thats way more than what i can afford.

something like that will easily be 200 dollars+ its a money grab using the razer label, and a few otherwise inexpensive components wrapped into one.

Also, the keyboard on the Hawken controller is notably non-standard. Good luck typing on that grid :D

Please refer to Razor's general pricing scheme before insulting your fellow forum users' intelligence.
$250+ is being generous for something like this.

Paying more than $250 for a peripheral is not retarded? I'm sorry. Foolish... that is probably more accurate. And if you can't see why that is... well then... there is no hope for you. My condolences. Or maybe you are stonking rich... which makes the point moot. Consider donating more to charity while you enjoy your fancy joystick.

In its current state my answer is NO. It's to bulky and I don't even know if it would fit on my desk. If they gave us the option of just the joysticks and keypad with no monitor and it was priced right I might consider it.

As long as it doesn't cost more than 50bucks or so and has easy shipping around the world.
Otherwise, I'll just stick in to my Logitech attack 3 joysticks which I am going to calibrate so that I'll get pro way to smite people down.

time to weigh in with my opinion... so, looking at this, it seems like a fairly solid design overall, the flight stick has plenty of buttons for deifferent fire controls, having a miniscreen for the tac view can be quite a life saver, and without having to devote a whole monitor of a multi screen setup to it, wich would mean sacrificing a view angle. the keypad is minimal, but given that this is custom built for the game, that suggests to me that the devs have designed it (the game) so as not to require a ****-ton of hotkeys, there is a tab on the keypad that the more i look, the more it clearly has to be a thumb throttle. the only fuction not obviously taken into account is torso-twisting, but it seems likely that you'd be able to use a seperate set of pedals to covor that. as for this thing taking up the space of a keyboard? so do a couple of the other HOTAS rigs that peeps have posted pics of, and if you have a keyboard drawer like most computer desks have nowadays, then there's no issue. I *am* concerned about price, so if it's over the $150.00 mark i probably won't be able to pick it up, but if I could afford it, i likely would, and i'm *not* too concerned about compatibility with other games since MWO will be the only piloting sim style game i'd be playing for some time.

it very well may be that the stick has twist, but it's not something you can tell just by looking, hence, it's not obviously represented, and none of the little feature blurbs mention it either, but then they don't make a specific statment as to the keypad containing a throttle control, it just seems obvious by the placment and design of that little tab on the right side of the pad.

I think I read somewhere that it's modular..if that's the case, I hope they offer the components separately.

I've also read people complaining about having the map down where you have to take your eyes off the screen. That map could possibly be the battle grid..and if so, just watch it end up being a touchscreen where you can just touch where you want airstrikes as a commander. I like the concept, as ridiculous and foolish as it might be to drop money on such an expensive peripheral for one game. I love Mechwarrior, so I'll probably do it if the game turns out to be as awesome as it's looking.

The controller looks cool , I will buy if I can get the money to. :P but it is doubtful I will have the money, because I keep buying more stuff for my Warhammer Army and my Warhammer 40k Army,

If its sold as one block no.

But if they would sell the screen separate that would be interesting. Also the screen would need a decent resolution, and be a touch screen that you can use for other things. Like control your music player etc while playing other games, or play with the teamspeak settings.

The concept is nice, but how its eventually going to be sold and with what functions is going to be deciding factor.

Not likely; the screen itself will probably jack the price up by at least a $100 on its own. At $150-180 it would be a good buy assuming it isn't junk, but I fear it may easily pass the $250 mark.
