A simple question, it has been a long time since beta and we still don't have Oceania based servers, which makes the game very unplayable at a competitive level due to everything being seemingly server side, including when you shoot and hit.

Any word on when we will get servers?

I would imagine it will be when they believe that the profit from Oceanic servers would outweigh the cost of the servers.

In other words, don't hold your breath.

There's a good chance Oceanic / SEA servers will never be worth it for PGI to set up. If they released dedicated server software so people could hire their own hardware, you'd probably see any demand filled. Unfortunately, that is extremely unlikely because of the mechanics of matchmaking / purchases / stat tracking and presumably CW will make it even more impractical.

Even if they did have local servers brought online here, they would most likely suffer the same fate as all games that aren't huge "casual" franchises like CoD / Battlefield: brief surge of activity followed a few months later by wane in interest leaving only a handful of hardcore players using the servers, followed a few months after that by shutdown. Even WoT only succeeds in the region because of a strong following in Asia proper that MWO is unlikely to ever achieve.

So I'd get used to playing with high ping ;)

*sigh*, a free-to-play model that alienates most of the southern hemisphere by not providing a dedicated server or even allowing others to be set up. I guess i'll go try Hawken now that it has Oceanic servers because the server-authenticated actions in gameplay is unbearable with 300 ping in Mechwarrior Online.
