Module Idea - Salvage Grappling Hook

Concept:

In the Battletech Tech Universe, Mech and Salvage Recovery is done by dedicated and trained
salvage teams behind the scenes, between battles; cutting, shaping and airlifting away ruined mech frames for inspection, repair and resale. Mech's are valuable merchandise.

However, certain Irregular Merc Outfits, more interested in profit and increasing the size of their warchest - take the actual step of fitting lifting gear and Salvage Grappling Hooks to their mechs.

These grappling hooks are myomer strengthened grappling irons with saw jaws intended to fire into enemy mechs and recover a warprize (components, unit colours, the dead mechwarrior's corpse).

Game Mechanic:

A Salvage Grappling Hook can be targetted at a downed enemy mech. +extra salvage C-Bill bonus; recovery of mech unit decal; enemy corpse -- bragging rights).

yeah, I wouldn't mind salvaging some free xl engines :D

Heh. Well the mention of +extra salvage C-Bill bonus, is the concept. An abstract representation of parts recovered rather than a specific item. (I would like to see the device do a /lookup against the items on the downed mech's current inventorybut this is simpler.)

Also:

The grappling hook device should be visually in game! A hook fires from under the cockpit / chin of your mech. Lots of grinding / shearing noises and sparks - a reward notification appears on your HUD!

I'd run this consumable all day, it would pay for itself.

Possibly so.

It could be balanced by having a limited number of uses per match (number of uses = to your own kills).
It is also balanced by taking up a module slot; as opposed to a more combative module.

Even If it were Limited to once per match, it could be saved for something that seems more likely to pay well. Hexa-PPC Stalkers, I'm looking at you.
