They have been staggering the hero mechs with the new chassis, and they typically announce the Hero mechs the week before.

So...

either they are flipping the hero mech and chassis releases from April meaning we get the Blackjack first, or

They are releasing both at the same time later in May, or,

There is no hero mech this month (unlikely I think), or,

I missed something somewhere (which is always possible).

They've been tight-lipped about the patch schedule for May thus far, we only know there's a potentially big one, with balance changes, on the 21st.

Then again, weren't they pretty silent on the fang/flame until right before their release? We might still see something similar on the seventh. I predict a Hero Spider, or Jagermech. Ask the Devs said that the next heroes are based on currently released chassis, so they may already be ready.

Either way here's hoping for the Blackjack on the seventh. Pint-size jagermech!

personaly i dont think the blackjack is going to do to well. but hopefully im wrong. Id really like to see an assault size mech thats built around ballistics.

but i have a feeling the level of QQ would be uncontainable.

i am really hoping though that the new hero ISNT a black jack, not just because im not to thrilled with the mech itself but because there are other Mechs i feel should get a hero version.

hoping the BJ does well, because tbh, we are already too dang top heavy in the current Meta. This game need to find a way to make Assaults more the "backbone" of the unit, and not the mainstay.

The lights are useless right now, they do not do any damage to speak of and die in about 5 seconds of PPC fire So a hero light to me is a nonsense.

Maybe they should implement matchmaking by weight somehow, because there are matchups of 3 assaults vs 5 assaults and guess who wins in these cases.

Lights have always been useful. I still see lights topping the charts in some of the drops. They are out of favor to be sure, but not useless.

Going by the numbers of hero mechs that are out there already, I would guess it's a light mech. There's already 2 mediums, 3 heavies, 2 assaults, and only 1 light. It will also probably be a raven or spider because they don't want to take away from the Founder's mechs. My wild speculation is that it will be a spider with an SRM4.

They've already stated that the next two heroes will be on old chassis, not the new one for the month.

So it'll be a mech thats already out, and doesn't have a hero (or a founder presumably) already. Not a huge list.

I expect a light hero and possibly the Raven. Why?

• PGI's seemed reluctant to release heroes for mechs that already have Founders variants. (Was there official word on this?)
  
• We've got two hero assaults, two hero mediums, three hero heavies (plus a champion), and one hero light. Lights are due for another.
  
• The Commando already has a hero variant and the Jenner already has a Founders variant.
  
• That leaves the Spider and the Raven, and I think the Spider is too devestating uncommon enough that they won't add another. Additionally...
  
• PGI's wanted to avoid accusations of P2W with heroes, and so long as the hero isn't obviously the best variant they can do that. It's going to be hard to add a new Spider worth buying that's not as good as the 5D. However, there's plenty of room between "worth playing" and "as good as the 3L."

So I expect a non-canon Raven hero with a mix of components from the existing Ravens. Maybe jump jets, almost certainly not ECM. 4 energy hardpoints, 2 ballistic perhaps?

Raven
Trebuchet
Jagermech
Stalker

Of course they have been known to pitch some curve balls before, so I wouldn't be taken aback by one that doesn't fit the criteria.

It's a super secret one, from a Chassis they haven't even released concept art for.

It will be a 2 AC variant of the 40 ton CLINT battlemech, called "Blondie" and piloted by a Taurian Colonial Marshall named Jim Duncan.

Next hero mech will be "Misery" but we don't know which mech it is, we only know it's one of the already existing ones.

My only problem with the misery is..it's another assault mech and it's not the Atlas...

no it';s fabulous but I hoping for more balance by releasing another hero light mech...
