OP, agreed. I had the same confusion, simply because I used my brain and thought there must be some kind of mistake in that pricing. Fact is they are horrendously overpriced for the use you actually get out of them. And, lets be honest, since they've started pumping out camos it's clear that not much effort is going into them. They're now pushing all these "splatter" skins that have nothing to do with the lines of the mech.

So, I guess we'll see the same thing with decals?

It simply isn't reasonable. I'm willing to pay and support the game (obviously), but I'm not going to flush money down the toilet because IGP wants to milk their fanbase like they don't expect to be around next month.

You already traded $170 real dollars for their imaginary Disney dollars (MC). They don't care what you spend your MC on or even if you spend it. They already have your hard currency while you're left with currency that can only be spent in their store.

I'm only saying that they could have MORE of my money if I didn't feel like it was a huge rip off money grab. The trick to success with "Freemium" games isn't just Premium game time - it's including things at a price that a majority of people might want to spend money on.

If you think the paints and camos are overpriced that is fine. The high prices are justified because some people pay them because they want that paint, that camo or that Mech' NOW. For everybody else there are 50% sales. I myself only bought camos and paints when they where 50% off and I will continue to do so. I just need to be patient. If even 50% off is not enough incentive then you will walk around in basic colored Mechs for all eternity. Unless there will be unlockable colors once CW and achievements are introduced.

Oops, I thought it was single use for one drop. I ended up buying the unlimited cause i wanted the permanent paint job. Had I known it was not single use but permanent i would have saved the mc and just bought the "single use". Good to know for future reference. Could be worded better to explain it's not truly single use.

unless you bought multiples of the same mech which would be ********, buying different variants of the same mech is bad enough

*looks offended* So I have two RS and I have two DDCs, all complete with modules. This makes me neither bad nor stupid (because Atlas). It just means I have no trailer park stable.

Here is something else to watch out for when buying patterns. You bought a pattern for 1 chassis and you have 3 mechs of that same chassis. If you decide to sell the mech that the pattern was bought with, you will also lose the paint pattern even though you still have the other 2 mechs.

I bought Mountain Line Perm for my Cataphracts, because I like the single-color stripe look at the top. I think that skin works great on Phracts, more than boxier designs.

Why did I do this? Simple, so I can take it off and put it back on depending on if I need to blend in with other guys in my unit.

That said, I think the normal price for the skins are too high. I bought it on a sale, but unlike colors, I have a hard time justifying the price for the perm unlocks in many cases. I drive Cataphracts enough (and doubt that will change even when the meta does) that it was worth it to me.

I believe that PGI should offer us a four-color palette that can be used on every mech in our stables: Black, Brown, Sand, and Olive Drab. Limited application pattern (somewhat tactical), but free all the same.

They can charge all they want for the more garish non-tactical colors. They are used only for personal statements at the moment. Yawn.

Buy an extra mech lab, then another copy of the mech, and a single use camo.

This adds up to 375 MC. Which is just barely more than 50% of the cost of a full camo unlock for that chassis.

I own 4 CTF-3Ds and all of them have different single lock camos, much cheaper.

I prefer to run the 'newbie green' so I don't stand out. I love finding someone who's invested real money in making themselves a clearer target. "Oh, that's the same Red & White Atlas that I worked the leg down to orange on. I'll just pluck that leg immediately, before my targeting computer even has to remind me to..."

Generally speaking, it seems that most camo / color schemes are clan / unit based. This way, when you drop in 8 mans, and your in a big brawl fest, you can easily spot the enemy versus you team mates ... especially when a couple of them are face hugging.

So yea, I tend to shoot at "off colors" mechs as well ... but that's generally cause I am going to assume their are a bigger threat then the plain green guy sitting next to him, so, in that sense, your strat works. Since I tend to run Big Iron, I want the other side focusing on me so it works out well :-).
