3Pv Is Not A Problem

Will it help in combat? Hell no, it takes time to zoom in and out which completely makes it nonsensical to toggle.
It's good for noobs so that they learn to navigate in their mech; there's a reason it's default.
My team and I all run first person. It's simply better.

If you sit in your 2 ER PPC + Gauss Rifle Highlander, you might not care, because you're the guy doing the shooting-people-in-the-face-at-range guy.
But if you sit in a Jenner or Hunchback, or quite possibly in any short range brawler, you'll appreciate not having to take the risk that someone snipes for your curiosity.

Good games are built on risk vs. reward. 3PV tips the scales way too far.

It's actually terrible for new players. You can't see your feet in half the mechs, you have no mini-map, you've got no idea how the drone works (nothing tells you), your crosshair jumps all over the place, you can't aim effectively, nothing tells you how to disable 3PV, and so on. Just like arm lock, it makes the new player experience even worse while giving advanced players another tool.

Remember when we always hated seeing those new guys with their arm reticule on the far left or far right of their screen? Yeah me too. Arm lock fixed that. Anyone smart enough to ask and recognize arm lock is potentially bad just asked in game and everyone was happy to tell him how to turn it off.
Now, come to today and you see new players with 3PV camera enabled by default. They quickly realize its not so hot and again, ask people in game how to turn it off. Everyone is happy to share their...colorful opinion on 3PV and tells them how to turn it off.
Everyones happy. I see no issue here. I'd rather have these options on by default so as to not overload a new player with information like they were in closed beta. They will learn quickly enough, and if they dont, they probably didnt have the patience for this kind of game anyway.

Incorrect.
I recommend that you try scrimming against a good team that uses 3PV & 1PV, and you only in 1PV. You'll be at a severe disadvantage.

The problem is, among other things, that the new players, that apparently have trouble telling where their legs and torso point, have absolutely no idea there is an alternative to such things as arm lock, throttle decay and now 3PV. And I am fairly certain many unexperienced players have no idea there is a floating ball above their heads, or, if they do, that it's not supposed to be all the time regardless of your view.
And while I would say that shame on them for not taking the time to even go trough the damn options thoroughly before dropping intoa game, you simply don't improve new player experience by introducing features that greatly limit their options and effectiveness in combat.
3PV fails at the task it was supposed to do and offers some additional use for the players that only want to utilize it every once in a while for better situational awareness in front of an obstacle that limits their view in 1PV.
