PGI should start releasing special edition weapons, or various weapon mechanics; damaged PPC, enhanced PPC, etc etc.

+1 damage or -2 heat. Faster reload, more ammo, etc etc.

Or it's damaged on drop, +4 heat, sells for less.

You could randomly unlock them by doing certain tasks in game.
Maybe scrap-drops at the end of a match and less C-bills, like Diablo. Not every item is better.. -1 PPC's, but they're free and can be sold if you just want the cash.

Or you can buy them in an auction.

Then they need a real money/CB auction house where you can buy and sell these weapons and special edition Mechs.

You could even have a weapon enhancement module. Scrap drops or forging.

... that's when I thought about this.

This game will ultimately fail.

You can't make a balanced MMO version of MechWarrior without completely changing the source material.

People aren't going to make Microtransactions if the community expects the game to be fully balanced. There's no reason to pay to play when there's no reason to spend money.

People aren't going to play if the game strays to far from the balanced table-top version. They'll complain about imbalance and modded weapons ruining the game play.

Can't win. They should scrap this project and use the money to build a solid single player campaign with a Multiplayer option and sell it for $40.

There's 1 successful example (of a game that is based on the mod of another game that people did pay to own originally) and thousands of failures.

That's like telling me I should drop out of college because Bill Gates is a billionaire.

You said quote "can't win" which implies impossibility. Would you like to rephrase that now? One example of success renders impossibility... impossible. Your original post as it stands is false. You should insert the word "probably" if you want to remain valid.

Can we see a list of these thousands of failures? You made a claim, the burden of proof lies with you.

The problem is that I like my idea. Adds some variety, tired of seeing the same MW universe weapons over and over. Collecting loot and comparing weapons is interesting and fun. Some PPC's have splash, some don't. Some missiles have better range, some do more damage.

But Classic Battletech people won't want any change to their precious universe.

Which is boring for me, and most other people who play the games. I don't want to play Mechwarrior 4 multiplayer with pretty graphics. I've played it already.

This game is boring because the "fans" won't allow the game play to deviate from the Universal standards. To hell with CBT rules, I say. A little Global Agenda doesn't hurt anyone.

They are all over the place. Most of them I can't find, because they never really got started. Korea, Taiwan and China are hotbeds for MMO's.

Just look at all the crap on Steam.

World of Warcraft will cuddle you to her crafted Panda breast and pat you on the wallet-belly...

EDIT: On a serious note, I want to get Fatalities so I can make my Hunchback freeze people in half and an Auction House would probably get the game banned in a few counttries after the Diablo3 South Korea debarcle

You've polled the entire existing and potential player base so you know what constitutes "most"? That's pretty impressive.

Never played WoW. I've got 61 hours in Global Agenda, and maybe 40 in this. That's about it for MMO's for me.

Don't really care.

Just putting my idea on the table, and telling PGI that the fan base will ruin this game financially.

They should just scrap this game, and make a none-cannon "Mechanical Warfare" so they scrap the rules and make something new and interesting.

You can tell by the forum posts. There are not a lot of bugs being reported, not a lot of new players asking questions or comparing 'Mech layouts.

It's just complaining about imbalance and asking the Dev's for refunds. You can deny it if you want, but it's pretty plain and clear.

Please can we try to keep MWO a "SKILL" based game as opposed to an item acquisition game?

I can and I do because your observations are far from what I would describe as "clear" observations of the truth. Were you to represent them as simply your opinion, you'd get a lot further and I'd have no issue with anything you posted. As it stands, your choice of tone and words are likely to make it appear to PGI and many of the player base as if you are grandstanding.

Putting your ideas on the table without all the hype, antagonism, doomsaying, and elitist tone would have been admirable and welcome, whether or not people agreed with your underlying premise. I think there could be some workable ideas in there.

That is, of course, MY opinion.

I hope you know that this 'playerbase' with its 'fans of classic BT universe' is keeping this game up. Most of the...the 'first wave'...is somewhere around 40 jears old with good memories, passion and money. The last wave of true CBT lovers is somewhere around 30years old and bring the same to MWO. If someone has the right to stand and hold on this old rules and structures of MWO are this people. These guys...and some women not to say...who have around 50 to 200 figurines of mechs based and painted are the ones who will gladly pay for this game. They want to have every mech as cockpit item, the hoola, their faction and all of the other funny stuff coming in the future. Theese guys will pay a dozen of bucks just to have the beloveed Urbie.

I know the franchise belongs to PGI/IGP but the game belongs to this people.

P.s.: most of them you can recognize by this little fancy tag in three different colous (yellow, orange, blue) under their faction icon and hope they will spend some more money on this game...so we can happily play the next 10-15 years. <---wanna see the NJT-3 on the battlefield

In b4 Roadbeer:

This is a serious topic. It needs a poll.

To the OP:

Your suggestions in the top would lead to drastic imbalance, and your perspective in the bottom is immensely unhelpful. I am not wed to the source material, nor would I say are most. I got into MW and MW2 and Mercs, which had their problems, but were hella fun to play. That is why MWO will, I hope, succeed--it's a blast.

This is the suggestions forum, not the chicken-little forum. Keep it constructive! It doesn't have to be positive, but SUGGEST something instead of QQing.

I'd actually like a killstreak that summons a swarm of AI urbanmechs <3.

Even if they had, that would just be the vocal minority that responds to polls!

I really would like more minor differences, like Holly LRM launchers firing in bursts of 2, or something like that.

NO RMAH PLEASE. GOD NO. It could have been okay in Diablo III but they warped the entire way the game played to fit around it and it was horrible. I don't even want to THINK about that combined with PGI's power whiplash balance patches....

I'd like a singleplayer MechWarrior game too, though.

*bashing dislike button* Sry but thats only horrible... Yea im a Fanboy of Mechwarrior and what u suggest isnt near mechwarrior. Random stat equip and a p2w shop srly? Aside of that... You want a coop based random stats itemsystem in a already hard to balance pure pvp game?
But u are right with 1 point. I also think they make too less money but u think in the wrong way if u want to change the itemsystem of mechwarrior.
A better idea thats already in the to do list of pgi is Cosmetic bodyparts for mechs. That will sell like hell and hey! cosmetics already works or do u see many Color- or camoless mechs these days?
Or if u realy want something longmotivating with items then maybe a salvage item System would help. A System where u have a Chance to get equip from players u killed at the end of the match. And if u want some extra Chance u can buy a boost or premium.
In other words:
This is not Diablo or borderlands "This .. is.. MECHWARRIOR!"
Your System wouldnt work here.

If ever this forum needed a dislike button...

I would rather say weapons with quirks by different manufacturers... That should be available to all via cbill or mc purchase..

On that note I think everything should be mc purchaseable (even xl engines)

No random special salvage that can't be purchased metagame - that would cause imbalance
