I figure this belongs in Metagame about as much as anywhere, but the bottom line is I'm wondering if anyone has heard anything about variant slots being added, in particular with UI 2.0 around the corner?
Even if we had to buy the slots on a per-chassis basis, I can absolutely guarantee that I would pick up several at a couple hundred MC a pop. I like many people don't want to own multiples of the same 'mech, esp. when encouraged to diversify, but the lack of being able to hot swap a variant seems like a huge oversight.
This seems like a great white hat way for PGI to make money and something a lot of the customers want so it'd be odd to not include it at this point.
Has there been any word, at all?

Not heard any news about this as far as i know, it has been a hot topic for some time though, so PGI are aware of it.

Source? That'd be cool if it was. I consolidated 2 of my stalkers into 1 model and sold the other off to free up the bay, but it is a hassle to switch out all the weapons when I want a change of pace.

Some would pay for this feature... I personally wouldn't. I'd resent them charging me for something which is basically just convenience. I'll pay for mechs, i'll pay for weapons, modules and pretty much any in game content as long as it adds to the gameplay.... hell, i'd even pay good money to have access to more maps. But given the amount of money they've already managed to con out of me... I wouldn't pay a penny for variant slots... they should be a free part of the game.
