Here some idea.

At first what's difference between SHS and DHS?
overall - 1tonn, often most of them locate in engine
SHS - 1slot(can locate in head and legs!) 0.1HpS
DHS - 3slots 0.14HpS

So, SHS have only one advantage, they can locate in legs and head.
Dev's says leg HS in water have more HpS(but not so much).

My suggestion.
HS in legs(and maybe in head) must have more HpS, especially in water.
Mechs with same SHS in water must have more HpS (much more) what mech with DHS.
Also similar effects can be on surface like snow, but with lower efficiency.

So... mechwarriors will think like dis: "with HS i can shot without overheat on wet maps... but if i take DHS i have more chanse on hot dry maps... HS or DHS..."

What u think?

So the ammount of additional HpS is based on the number of total heat sinks...not considering if they are DhS or SHS....sounds reasonable.

To be true, i don't think that it will make a big difference...if you are not sure...take DHS and for the most you are right with this decission.

Best idea I've read so far...is that the # of heatsinks affect the heat cap/treshold.
So a Mech with 12 SHS have more treshhold over a Mech with 10DHS...even when last one can dissipate heat much faster.

DHS were always pretty much a straight upgrade and should stay so.

We don't have repair back in the game... yet. But when it is a lot of things out there that are used now will be pricey to repair and help mitigate a lot of the builds you see now.

And will lead to tons and tons of ultra cheap cash grindy catapults lobbing lrms or ppc blasts- you think sniping is epidemic now? HA!

I've got some bad news. Heat sinks in components under water already function better. It's not enough to make SHS worth taking.

When it costs you more cbills to repair said errppc than it would a medium laser you might see less of it. Since you don't have to pay for ammo or repair anything right now there is no reason not to put the best of everything on the mech and call it a day. When you have to pay for it that could change.

Since when did this game become WaterMechWarrior?

Clan DHS will allow players to have DHS in the water and reap the benefits that the IS mechs we have now cannot unless we use SHS. So... the idea is irrelevant.

Plus, switching to DHS already doubles your heat efficiency with the engine heatsinks automatically, so those 4 SHS in the legs need an additional 6 SHS when you're not in water.

DHS unbalanced the game in TT (Thats when I stopped playing competitively) And it is still unbalancing the game. It should be removed and alot of the problems we have will disappear. All clan tech was nothing more than to make the original mechs worthless and force everyone to upgrade their books. No different than what MTG does with every new card set.

the heat sysem is so distorted that I doubt standing in water with SHS does anything nociable.
in case you havn't noticed doubleing the HS from what you would have in TT does almost nothing.

While I dsperately want to play battletech this isn't it and isn't likely to ever be it. in anything but names and some game history.

It does seem to moving away instead of toward Battletech. Won't be long before It's BattleQuake.

I think the developer's are going about ambient environmental heat wrong. The effects need to be stronger and more beneficial - built into each map with more forethought so there is scope for single heat sinks to work, if a player chooses to position their mech in the right spot. There needs to be strong feedback through the HUD when you are getting a heat benefit or penalty.

DHS didn't ruin the game' the dismantlment of the gameworlds culture and style did. as for making new things to buy it is a buisness. the only really bad thing I say was the clickbase thing.
That was blatant corporate-whoring.

the biggest mistake the devs made was starting in 3049. the should have started just before T2 tech came back and progressed time in jumps based on major events in the timeline (Once the had the basic game finished. and stable...) till they got to 3049.

clan stuff is going to destroy the game. if for no other reason than most people have no Idea of how to use it.

I like this, The heat bar should change color from Red to Green depending on what bonuses or penalties are being applied.to heat dissipation.

if the heat system was even romotely based on BT then SHS would be used faily oftem as ballistics boats need the space for weapons and ammo. and don't need DHS.

So Engine DHS in TT weren't doubled?
Was it only external heat-sinks that were?
(Srly I have no idea, never played it)

DHS are an upgrade. Trying to balance DHS vs SHS is like trying to balance a Prime Cut Tenderloin vs. Meatloaf. It should not be done. Ever.
