The OP does not provide any real arguments as to what the problem with double heat sinks are and why they should be removed other than "just because". Also, according to the timeline, double heat sinks are available in the Inner Sphere by the time the game takes place. The difference between the game and lore is that in lore, they didn't upgrade every mech with double heat sinks right away. If you want to "balance" the game in accordance with lore, you might as well prevent players from customizing/upgrading their mechs as customization is the single greatest factor that unbalances the game. For example, it's not so much the PPC that is unbalanced. It is the fact that you can outfit 6 of them on a Stalker that is unbalance. But keeping players from customizing their mechs won't go over well with the player base.

So you're saying you miss the days when the best mechs were gausscats and quad small laser atlases? Because I don't.
actually my atlas runs 4x large lasers, with old tech across the board. it has none of the upgrades. double heat sinks wouldn't work because (at the current ratings) they cannot match up to the 43 single heat sinks i have mounted. it is impossible to get 43 heat dissipation out of DHS. i did the math once and i think the highest you can go with DHS is 38 heat dissipation.
