So, I am looking into getting into the K2, but was looking for advice, this is the build I came up with: CPLT-K2 - Splat-A-Pult

Can anyone give me tips or tricks for this setup, or mebbe suggest different loadouts?

edit: I forgot to mention that I did NOT allocate the armor, I maxxed it and removed 6 pts just for the weight allowance, wasn't trying to outfit the armor

The case u equipped is in this case 100% useless since you carry an XL engine.
me personally would fit endo steel as well, add a heatsink, remove that case and install a 315XL (expensive though).
And because of the massive heat I would think about swapping at least 2 of the ERLL to LL. I would recommend to swap the torso mounted to LL and keep the ERLL in the arms.

But that's just me.

Max the armor, make the legs 57.

4 ER Large just runs wayyyyy too hot for any kind of sustained fire. Use 4 Large instead, or 2 ER 2 regular.

I would dump the machine guns and make the engine a 315.

Definitley get Endo, and use the tonnage for more heatsinks.

I would experiment with the regular 4LL first. It is a lethal mech, and very heat efficient in brawls. If you feel that you lack range, slap on the ER's.

Like Roughneck says, switch out ERs for regular, at least two of them. Adding endosteel will give you room for another DHS, and maybe swap out a laser for a large pulse. Otherwise, not a bad Las-Kat.

I agree with others about dropping ER LLs. You really can't make use of the extra range anyway, and they're just too hot.

I'm sure this will be called crazy, but this is my setup I run:

Catapult K2 : Hand of Zeus

4 X ERPPC
XL280 Engine
Endo
Total of 17 DHS
400 Armor (stripped some from the legs, max everywhere else)

I built it as a joke build to run for ***** and giggles, but as I played with it, I realized that it was a lot of fun.
It's definitely not a brawler, but the ERPPCs mean that in the event that one pesky light or medium sneaks up
on you, you can handle them.

It takes some serious getting used to, but the ability to one shot any mech in the game (if you get lucky) and getting
called a hacker can be a lot of fun.

I am using a regular 4 LL build with 300 XL, max armor and as much heatsinks as i can cram into this thing.

It's nothing special, but it works :)

On my K2, I run 4 Large Lasers, XL 300, and 2x MGs. I keep up a constant stream of MG bullets as I brawl, and it's quite satisfying to strip all of the weapons off of someone, limiting the damage they can do to you as you kill them.

I get that, but what about the Heat? 4 LL run manageably hot, but if you tend to alpha them... you need as much heat sinks as possible.

I don't have too many heat issues. During extended brawling, I cycle between the two on my arms and the two on my torsos, mostly because it is easier for me to aim them that way. When heat gets way too high, I can switch to chainfiring them one at a time as I cool off.

By grabbing MGs, I think I lost out on one double heatsink, so not that much. Besides, during the "cool down" phase, since I've targeted their heavy weapons areas, I typically take out the guns anyway, cutting their DPS down by a large amount.

I tried one with mg's, and you lose 2 tons, 1 for the guns(0.5 each,) and 1 for the ammo... the dhs are worth more to me in the K2

I love the K2 so much I have 2.
One with 4 large lasers, std 300 and 16 dhs.

The other one 4 ml and 2 ac/10.

I do a ton of damage in this one. Love it to death.

Look at all the lasers!

My favorite K2 build so far is a gauss rifle with 3 tons of ammo, a large laser, 3 medium lasers, max armor, then the rest DHS. I also have endo steel equipped. Standard 260 fusion engine is also used. This 'mech is highly mobile, can dish out a ton of damage for little heat problems, and it can also take plenty of punishment and still remain a threat, even with a side torso gone.

How terrible is your heat with this setup?

I'm about ready to outfit my first mech (k2) and so far have enjoyed the PPC sniping. I'm looking at going the 4 ERPPC route or 2 ERPPC and something ballistic with less heat...

It depends on the map, but it's pretty intense. One alpha ends up putting you around 60% heat, two alphas and you're shutting down. I have it set up to where one mouse button fires the arm PPCs, one fires the torso PPCs, and one fires all 4 at once.

It takes some getting used to, but once you know how to play with this, you can be pretty deadly. It's a great headhunter, and if you manage to hit a light, you're going to obliterate it. Except Ravens, for some reason PPCs don't register to well on them, except the legs.

I tried this out and its some serious damage.. currently I have mouse 1 set to chain fire all 4, and mouse 2 set to alpha all 4.
I've found that chain firing allows me to get off 5-6 shots back to back, and alpha is just fun.

you do have to be very careful about heat though, because you'll shut down in a hurry. 300+ dmg matches are easy even if your team derps up the fights.

Kind of a newbie but I bought a k2 as my first mech and have been running it as a gausspult for a while. Been thinking about changing things up though. Think this is a good build?

yes it is.

Any setup with 4 mlas and a nice primary is a good setup.
