I havn't seen much/any info on this, but I feel that overarching player organisations should be kept separate from individual player choices.

By this I mean, as a player you can choose to play as part of a house or merc group, and this choice should be kept separate from how your "clan" plays.

The play dynamics and metagame are going to be enough different between the two that I just feel that some people may want to play with their clan while still wanting to be in a different faction from the one their group is with for individual play.

Alternatively/Additionally, it would be nice to be allowed to have multiple pilots per account, so you can be a Merc, be part of a house, and when they come be part of the clans all on the one account/email. I know I'm likely to have two accounts for merc and house if they don't allow this.

This is assuming we do get player organisations beyond just mercenary groups at some point, which I hope does happen.

on the "multiple pilots" thing... multiple accounts will do the job, won´t they? since this is free to play, it doesn´t do any difference to me, if i have 2 pilots on 1 or 2 accounts...

Multiple accounts requires multiple email accounts, and time spent creating said accounts. Plus, any stuff you bought with real cash is account specific - ideally stuff bought with real money would be non-pilot specific barring circumstances like clan vs IS mechs depending on how they balance gameplay - obviously you can't use clan mechs as an IS pilot even if bought with real money, it would screw the balance.

I'm not sure what the devs think but there are benefits for doing it either way - with non-pilot-specific mechs it encourages people to buy them with real money because then they don't have to regrind if they decided to play a different faction, but at the same time it means there is less potential money (ie if every existing pilot in the game bought a mech with real cash they would get more money than if they were non-pilot specific - but honestly what are the chances of that).

Personally, I think with this game I'm done with the multiple toons thing.

This game isn't going to be like your standard MMOs where you level your tank to 50, then you level your healer to 50, then you level your ranged DPS to 50 etc.
This game you level your pilot and your chassis. If you feel the need to grind your pilot to max level and then level every chassis that is released and yet to come to max level, then you sir are more dedicated than I.

I do understand the need for multiple play styles, however I believe that this game will allow that without the need to either re-roll or roll multiple accounts.

The suggestion is nothing to do with the classic "lvl healer, mage, tank, to 50" it's more "OK I want a jedi AND a sith character, but they only allow one character per account..."

*shrugs*

Well just as long as they are not going to block extra accounts from the same IP address. How many Pilots are we allowed per Free2play account. I want to try one pilot for each house faction, one as lone wolf, one in merc corp.

Multiple characters is a boon for the game.

People will spend more on transactions between the characters on their account and it helps the community which may see an imbalance in the number of players populating a faction.

Let us make toons for different factions and people can jump over if warm bodies are needed to get games going.

Letting us have it under one account makes it easier for the customer.
