I just caught wind of this game via Razer's feed on Facebook announcing their peripheral hardware for this game. Was instantly excited about a new mechwarrior having played the 1 and 2. Upon creating my account I was asked whether or not I wanted to receive emails on other FASA products which caught me totally by surprise. Having played Shadowrun 07' at a competitive level during its brief lifespan with MLG online after the 2007 MLG pro circuit in Vegas I have nothing but the highest respect for FASA and the individuals who developed the game I came to love(although with the recent shadowrun kickstarer video it seems that the developers don't hold my sentiment) as well as a pretty in depth understanding of the history leading up to and the times after FASA's last days. Most of the competitive community kept a close eye on the company as we watched our favorite game slip away. Anyway with FASA closing its doors shortly after the release of Shadowrun for the 360 Microsoft Studios got the rights to FASA's IPs Shadowrun, MechWarrior, and Crimson Skies. It was my understanding that Jordan Weisman bought FASA's properties back from Microsoft when he was with Smith and Tinker. He now resides with Harebrained schemes. I'm currently thoroughly confused as to A why I dont see any association with Harebrained schemes on this site who I thought held the MechWarrior IP or B how I'm to receive news from FASA products when the company hasn't existed for about nearly 4 years. Is there anyone who can shed some light on this?

Shadowrun online. 3rd Person top down strategy turn based game where you go on runs with people etc.

Looks interesting.

yes i mentioned that above, very much looking forward to it although I would be infinitely more excited if it was indeed a sequel to the shooter.

Won't say much but really?? Shadowrun was NOT an FPS game.... was a pen n paper RPG... that travesty of a shooter MS tried to push on us was a joke IMO...

What's planned for SR:O is Shadowrun... not, repeat not some FPS...

ugh...

They are making a game based on the RPG which happened before. The shooter was interesting, but not similar to the RPG. That's why the Kickstarter looks different than you expect.

The RPG version is indeed what I was expecting it was only hopeful to see something more come from the shooter aspect. I'm very much aware of shadowrun's past but the shooter, while numerous flaws due to MS bs the shooter was the most balanced fps i've experienced.

Not sure if it's Jordan himself, or Smith & Tinker that holds the rights, but either way, it's my understanding that Jordan is still on the board of S&T.

I won't knock the Shadowrun game except on what it was. As a shooter it was actually pretty decent and tried some new stuff, which is more than you can ask for these days.

However, I object to its misrepresentation of Shadowrun. Shadowrun would be much more suited to a Deus Ex game (well, it's all cyberpunk so...), though perhaps a bit more action-y.

Jordan is on the board and still has a lot of say as to the direction of the IP, but he is a busy dude...he is also putting in a lot of time with Topps and Catalyst games getting the TT game back to where it was fifteen years ago and he working with Wizkids to launch a MW 3049 version of Hero Clicks ( MW Dark age without the Dark age)

:D WAAAAAAAAAAAT?!!??!

I hadn't heard of that one! I posted on the MWT forums at one point that MWDA was a good game mechanically but it killed the story. If they say picked 3025 or something that would have been much more fun. Though I almost would rather they went the 40k/WarMachine route instead of the clix. WK paint jobs suck for the most part (though the mechs were the exception).

Shadowrun would be perfect for a sandbox style MMO. There actually was one ready to go but instead of buying it M$ hit them with a cease and desist order. Still hoping for a Shadowrun MMO someday.

Actually, it's Shadowrun Returns. Shadowrun Online will be out next year, and it's supposed to be an MMORPG if I remember correctly. Either way, I'm excited for both.

Edit: My mistake. Apparently both are going to be turn based.

I'd like to know more about this... I loved the pre-painted miniature 'Mechs. I ended up using them for tabletop BT.

Shadowrun returns is the old Game released.

Shadowrun online is as I stated. It's an mmo, but itsn't an MMO. 3rd person top down turn based strategy.

It was mentioned briefly at last years GAMMA and Gen-con actually not much is known other than they are going to do it.

Oh and if you want the 40k/Warmachine route that's Battletech :P

I remember running a very quirky yet effective raccoon shaman back in the Shadowrun RPG (books & dice 1.0 model). To those that only remember Shadowrun as a poorly done FPS, you have my sympathy.

I personally find this to be an exciting time as an old FASA fan and customer. I have every appendage that will cross, crossed hoping that everything works for the good of ALL of FASA old IPs.
