You have GOT to listen to the community. We are the ones PAYING to play your game. ECM is just plain broken. There have been many, MANY suggestions on how to fix it. TRY THEM! I can not for the life of me figure out why you (the devteam) continues to support ECM as is. There is a reason so many players have told you ECM is broken. Because it IS - That's the reason. Why be so determined to keep your game broken?

LOL. yeap! we do. I know ATM PPC and Gauss are ruling so ECM is not so much of an issue but that still does not stop 1.5 tones of equipment being OP ;)

There's no point.

Not because it's balanced--it's obviously the best 1.5t / 2 crit item by a comically large margin, and has more influence on matches than kit 10x the weight--but because nobody's listening. There was a big feedback thread on ECM, and the "balancing" was to always put it in a side torso, which I don't think anyone had actually asked for, and which no ECM mech apart from the DDC will notice. ECM is plainly a dev's darling, and it's never going to be balanced.

Only to those that rely on LRMs and streaks to get kills.

IIRC the last poll on ECM had the community pretty much even for and against. Should modify or make a new poll asking if ECM should change.

Lastly PGI have all the data, not you, not me and they've decided that ECM is close to where it should be. This indicates that more people are far more accepting of it than what you make it out to be.

Oh ECM was also helpfull in completly kill any chance in a Random Drop to communicate or prime a target with the Chat...
have used it before...and it worked...virtully neutralizing the advantage of Premade Players....if people were listening.
With ECM it turns...
  • stay near ECM...if he does a mistake or not -the guy with the ECM lead
  • the target designation is screwed...not allowing me to communicate with chat to prime a target
  • teamplay in random drops is nearly removed
  • LRMs like they are now could be perfect - remember (i assert that for every point of armor on a Mech you need one LRM...means to kill a Hunchback allone with LRMs you need roughly 400 LRMs....if all of them hit.
  • ECM that is not disabling LRM lock on - plus LRM as they are now -> neutralizing your argument that ECM is only a distraction for those that use SSRM and LRM only
  • The SSRM argument -> well if you are right...the 3L or the 2D would not use SSRM...but they do.
I'm still thinking, that ECM should distract communications...means your sensors see a target...but thanks to radio interference this target is not visible for your team....Scouts could not call indirect LRMs because the LRM Mechs did not see the target.

Your IFF and enemys IFF is blocked

ECM is distracting active lock on mechanism too...making it harder for SSRM or LRM to get lock on. When those missiles got into the bubble of ECM-they will loose all guidance.

Those features would be a valuable tool... for electronic warfare....NOT the Uber Tool it is now.

I don't want to discuss...how TAG or PPC can disable ECM
And how comming nerf will enable IFF to be transmited towards the ECM cloak.

Last time I checked PGI still needed money to develop the game, and guess where that money is coming from?

ECM is no longer a problem...lights are dead meat in current meta and who cares about a big D-DC. He will get poptarted to death.

PPC is the balance issue. If they ever buff LRM, then we can take a look at ECM.

I think ecm is fine and If you carry a ppc it can be defeated and locked on quickly. My issue is with loading teams with 4 ecms on one side and none on the other, Especially when the 4 are lites and your all assaults

The question is not...are you able to counter ECM...
The question is do you need special tactics...equipment and abilitys to counter a small device that is a no brainer?
