Ok, not a fan of consumables. Most of my mechs are pretty well made heatwise, so that counts out the coolshots.

The Arty and Airstrikes are very "meh", and I can understand the avoidance of P2W.

But one consumable I'd never leave without would be the ability to pop smoke.

man we were thinking about same thing yesterday when we were slaughtered by team of 6 poptarts on alpine. I would love to have some usable smoke on mech.

Probably because the smoke would be pathetic, like the arty and airstrikes; hell, probably the same exact "smoke".

I thought this thread was going to be about what consumable we would want next. Smoke Screen was going to be my suggestion. It would be CRUCIAL for closing the gap or concealing movement from snipers. I think it would be the first, MUST HAVE consumable.

Edit: They could even do different colors of smoke for MC.

People would find a way to mess with their graphics to see right through it.

Smoke would be better implemented as alternate ammo. However, those weapons that could most plausibly fire smoke shells (or missiles!) are for the most part not in the game, and even if there were alternate ammo is far away. So, as a consumable? Yeah, sure.

Alternate ammo? I'd rather have the consumable or module, because then energy laden mechs wouldn't be gimped.

Almost all modern military vehicles have dedicated smoke launchers. It stands to reason mechs would too.

I still want an autocannon gnome module. They should crawl out whenever my ultras jam and frantically try to clean it out with plungers and toothbrushes.

Couldn't you lay smoke with LRM's and Arrow IV? Also, with torch-able buildings and vegetation, you should be able to MAKE a smokescreen. Think of River City burning.... ah....

If it were a consumable, I'd probably not be interested. But if it were a module, I'd consider it.

I voted no because I don't agree with consumables. I don't agree with the idea of throwing money into the ether and hoping something comes out.

I suggested this in another thread. I would like to see it as another form of arti.

I would also add consumable bug fixes, for example, you get the missing minimap bug, by using the consumable the HUD is reinitialized and restored to full functionality. Look at it as an electronic workaround of the mech systems.

It's not like it it's going to hurt you. I am pretty sure that arty and airstrike are going to be changed considering I have seen them ONCE since they were implemented. If you could aim and fire a couple of smoke grenades that would help a lot against snipers. Of course, if they made it only a tiny puff of nothing then yes, it would be useless, it all depends on the way they implement it.

Not as a consumable but as a dedicated item say in replacement of AMS with its own ammo types
so you would have a choice

AMS + ammo
OR
Canister launcher + ammo
ammo available 1t = 10 to 15 shots
Smoke ( dense black smoke that obscures vision down to 5m in a 30 m radius ) can fire multiple canisters over a 90 m range
Chaff ( lots of false radar readings) air burst
thermite/ magnesium ( over loads night and heat vision) air burst

No, becasue I still oppose the use of consumables overall and will continue to do so for the forseeable future. Though I do see significanlty merit in both this "smoke grenade" and the proposed (soon to come?) scouting UAV than I do in the ones currently available.

I understand the monetization aspect and that the benefit is small, but I simply do not feel it was the right thing to do.

A smoke grenade launcher on the other hand.... yeah, i`d buy a few dozen of those, but as equip, not a consumable. I actually love the idea of using ths AMS slot(s) for this, .5 ton launcher an 1 ton of ammo is more or less what I'd consider "right" :)

Smokescreens might do more damage than Airstrikes just from friendly fire alone.

Next month, on MW:O Forums:
Smokescreens OP!

EDIT: I voted yes. I'd prefer LRM Smoke rounds one day, but would take what I can get in the meantime.

What if it went from a consumable to a straight up module?

That'd be my preference, but the Devs will look at ways to monetize the game.
